Are there any people who went to school during the 90s who were not popular and athletic who wanted their children to end up being pretty & athletic?

I am curious.

Were there people who were nerdy kids in the 90s who ended up wanting their children to be jocks?

Or were they too smart to want something like that for their children?

Were there any 90s kids who would go on to advocate for gene engineering that would create a future where everyone is good looking, athletic, and smart?

I was a nerdy kid in the 80s. Does that count?

Yes, I wanted my kids to be athletic and be members of a team. We didn't force them however. It was always their choice. Oldest played softball through middle school then managed the XC and track teams. Middle played soccer all through HS and is still playing in college. Youngest played soccer all through HS. All three were smarter than average (youngest finished with a 4.0+).

BUT, we always told the kids "you don't have to play a sport, but you do have to be involved in SOMETHING." There are definite physical and emotional benefits to being an athlete.

I am a 90s kid. I was not popular at all. I hated high school. I got teased all through school. I never wanted my kids to be super popular or be a jock, but I did hope they didn’t get treated the way I did in school. I didn’t want them to suffer. I tried to just help them have kids over and do fun things and tell them that we loved them no mater what. I didn’t have that at home growing up. I went from being called names at school, to being called them at home so I tried to give them a home life that was supportive. When they did get teased, I was just sympathetic. I tried to teach them to stand up for others and to look out for kids in need. They have, and honestly, that’s what I am most proud of. They are good kids with kind souls who help others. That said, they all played sports at one time or another. One is playing in college. We never forced them to play, they all wanted to. We focused on education and grades as the most important thing. None of them are super popular but they all have friends and they are happy and they know they have family who loves them and that is all that really matters in the end.

Why is being athletic and smart a bad thing?

It's a big jump to get to gene engineering.

I was the nerdy kid in school 1970's. My 5 year High School reunion was an eye opener. An amazing number of my classmates hadn't finished College yet. I had. And I was working behind the scenes of a local TV show, and my name was in the credits and I was surprised how many of my classmates watched that show and saw my name in the credits.
