I'm just curious. I'm a paraeducator for special ed.

I know we have some teachers, but are there any other paras here?

Yes. I believe most school districts are changing the name to paraeducator to reflect the changing job description. In my district, anyway, paraeducators have more instructional duties than teacher's aides did in the past. I don't do any clerical work. My whole day is pretty much taken up with one-on-one instruction time.

In the county that I work in they used to be called Paraprofessionals. Now they are called Instructional Assistants and are required to hold at least an Associates degree. They do help with some clerical but mainly their day is spent doing reading groups.

We have to have at least 48 hours of college, I believe.
