Hi all,

Yes it's me again, the 4 day disney cruiser (9/22) who just can't settle for my assigned room and has to keep playing with it. We have now decided to upgrade from our Cat 9 (which we already upgraded to from a cat 10) to a Cat 5....The Fl Res rates make it incredibly affordable and we've decided to go for it.

So, here's my questions:
1)Are there any "bad" category 5 rooms?

2)DH wants to know how high the railing is? He wonders how they manage to keep you from falling(or jumping) off of the ship.

3)DH also wants to know if it is incredibly windy out there. I haven't seen this addressed before.

So, hit me with all of your wisdom concerning the Cat5 rooms and verandas as we have never had one before.

One last question....how will this be handled as we have already paid in full and received our docs?

Many thanks for putting up with my endless questions!

I really would not worry about it. I'm sure there are "bad" rooms, but we have always taken what they've given us and its been fine. Especially on a 4 day cruise - you are in port one day, at CC one day, how much time are you planning on spending out on the verandah.

The verandah's have rails covered in plexiglass. If you really tried you could jump over it, but then I could jump out the window in my office, too. If you are concerned that the kids will climb over (theoretically they could by standing on the chairs), just tell them they can't go out there without an adult.

My daughter wants to go on a cruise with her best friend as a "graduation present" next spring. She says she is willing to take the lowest, cheapest inside cabin because you never spend any time in them anyway.

Just got off the phone with my TA. We have upgraded to a Category 5 and have been assigned cabin 7550.

I see from Dave's site that this has a plexiglass see through veranda which is very cool.

I also see that I am right next to the elevators. I have heard on this board that the elevators don't bother anybody at all so I feel like this is a convenient location. Just wondering, although the elevators themselves are quiet, do the people coming on and off the elevators get annoying? Do you hear lots of shouting and clomping around?

I also see that we are mid ship which seems to be a favorable location but it didn't really matter to us.

So, now that I have a cabin number, any additional words of wisdom regarding balconys?

What about that wind outside on the veranda?

Do you guys really leave the veranda doors open at night?

Whose bed is by the window? Is it the grownups or the kids?

How high are the railings?

Thanks again!

Ok, I'll give you what I know. The railing is about waist height on an adult (have a pic of hubby 5'11" and it is right at his middle).

Kids beds are by the door, as they are transformed out of the sitting room.

Leave the door open? Why now isn't that against the rules?;) ;)

We had a cat 5 on deck 7 last year. Great room! (7076)

The sitting area is next to the verandah door, and that's the area which converts into bunk beds. (If you have a room for 4 ppl).
There is an overhead bunk which pulls down from the wall, and the couch converts to a bed. They basically look like bunk beds when open. Personally I wouldn't like having the verandah door open at night because I think it would bring in too much humidity.

The wind on the verandah is really not an issue. The space is pretty well enclosed so it's not as if the wind knocks you around in anyway. However I wouldn't advise the ladies to lean out over the railing just after fixing their hair!

Our kids were 9 and 11 for last years cruise, and the plexiglass/railing was higher than their shoulders. No possible way to fall over! Let's face it - if an adult wanted to jump over, they could, but no way is anyone gonna fall off the verandah.
There is a lock at the very top of the verandah door so little kids can't let themselves out.

The verandah is well worth the cost, too. I will never forget the mornings I spent out there enjoying my first cup of coffee, watching the ocean go by! Not to mention the evenings spent having a beer, watching the sun set! ;)

ENJOY!!!

For me, it was WAY too humid to leave the verandah door open. I didn't notice it to be all that windy, unless I was leaning over the railing.

To respond to your elevator question, my concern was also about the foot traffic rather than the elevators themselves, but we didn't hear any noise attributable to this, either. We stayed in 7106, next to the aft elevators. I still prefer to be closer to the elevators, and would book this room again without hesitation. I've heard more noise from a door directly across the hall in other rooms that from people coming or going on the elevator.

Iwas right by you near the aft elevators and also loved the location.

We were in 7562, and thought it was an awsome location. Your cabin is in the same vicinity so I am sure you will love it.

We LOVED the verandah, although for our 7-day Magic cruise that is only a short 156 days away, we choose a cat 6. Its exactly the same as a cat 5 but $200 cheaper. We will be in 6092, if anyone has comments about that cabin.

Have fun:jester:

Our favorite room is the first one off the elevator on Deck 5 AFT and the room is right across from the luggage storage area. I sleep LIGHT and never hear anything (maybe because of DH snoring!).

I love the pexiglass verandah because my son can see through it - he had to stand on a chair to see over the Navigator's Verandah. (Yes, we were holding him the entire time TIGHTLY!)

I like having the verandah because I enjoy my privacy and quiet and with it, I can have both - the excitement and adventure of Disney but the peace and quiet of my own space.
