Are the RPR Jurassic Park rooms ever bookable with an AP rate?

I just rebooked our trip dates at the highest seasonal rate because I couldn't book the JP suites with Chase UR points or any of the current offers. I'm wondering if it might be possible to book a JP room closer to our dates with the AP rate, or if the JP suites are never included because there are fewer of them and they're popular enough to book at rack rate. Thanks!

ETA: if AP discounts are available for our week (starting Dec 22) for other non-JP rooms at a substantial savings, my kids might just have to live without the JP rooms. If AP discounts are never available that week, I guess it doesn't matter!

Try adding an AP room to your cart (any AP room that costs less than the JP suite), then click on the "Upgrades available" button in your cart.

They are limited as you know, but they have been offered at AP rates, lowest I’ve ever booked FYI was $349 per night.

I believe there are 7-8 of these suites is all.

Universal Studios Resorts has Jurassic Park rooms in one of their hotels? That sounds fantastic because I love Jurassic Park? What do the rooms look like? Maybe I could get ideas to transform my room from these Jurassic Park room designs

Yes they do they were actually updated from JP to JW recently the beds for the kids are like the sphere ride from the movie and the room is themed accordingly, the parents side or main side is the regular theme of the rest of the Royal Pacific Resort.

AP rates come out around 3 months in advance. If your trip is in December, it's too early for AP rates on any rooms.

I'm planning a trip for next month, and there are Jurassic suites available. For a midweek stay mid-April, I'm seeing the suites at $420.70. For comparison, a standard RPR room that night is $219. So, yeah, my kids are sleeping in a regular room! Your budget is probably higher.

Thanks for that info! I ended up booking a Despicable Me suite instead over at Portofino using Chase UR points. The suites were about double the points of a regular room, but my kids are obsessed with Despicable Me and it's our first trip to UO (and by the time this trip roles around, it will be our first family vacation in exactly two years) so decided to splurge a bit since we have so many points saved up from going nowhere all this time!

Glad it worked out for you! The feeling of staying somewhere for "free" using points is amazing, and to do it with your kids' favorite characters sweetens the deal!

My almost-13-year-old said something to my husband about me being "cheap" with booking a single hotel room this trip (he's used to two rooms for our whole family of 5, but I'm the only adult this time). He knows the first 3 nights of the trip are at Cabana Bay (per his request b/c he loves the mid-century theming), but he doesn't know I booked a family suite there, and I'll just let him find out when we open the door. He can 'suck it up' and share a bed when we transfer to RPR because four people in two queen beds is hardly roughing it.

OMG. The next time he calls you cheap ask him if he would like to pay! I can relate, though. My kids are definitely spoiled compared to how I grew up going to Orlando (driving down, staying at budget motels, one day ticket to UO, packing lunches) As a kid I didn't even know staying onsite was a thing that existed, never mind imagining that I might someday get to do it!

LOL - It's not as bad as it sounds. He said it to my husband who is definitely more free-spending than I am. DH makes (gentle) fun of me for my thrifty Yankee ways. The kids have figured out that I'm more likely to say yes to treats - dessert, screen time, late bedtimes, and pets, but DH is more likely to say yes to buying stuff - souvenirs, eating out, and nice hotels. When ODS was a toddler, he was obsessed with balloons, and every time DH took him to the supermarket, they came home with another mylar balloon. Seriously we had like half a dozen random ones with things like "happy retirement" on them, and DH did not understand how I could take ODS to the supermarket and not come home with another balloon.

There's a great thrift shop near me, and most of our clothes come from there. Now the kids ask me to take them and treasure hunt for new shirts. Safe to say, my kid is smart enough not to complain to me about being cheap. He just really doesn't want to share a bed with his brother, so his current plan is to bring his sleeping bag. He's a boy scout, so he can handle sleeping on the floor of RPR.

But I hear you about my upbringing vs theirs. My family only took one long-distance vacation my whole childhood (Disney when I was 12), but my kids all broke in their passports before turning 2. It's kind of a balance to allow them to enjoy cool trips, but also make sure they appreciate them, and know they are a luxury, not a given. We could afford to stay premier for the whole trip, but I choose not to because I think it's good for them to be aware of costs and exercise some restraint. And also, I'm cheap.
