The studio rooms seem a little smaller in pictures at the BCV than the BWV and VWL...are they?

The vanity area and kitchenette area seem smaller too. Are pictures deceiving??

thanks :)

When I was in a studio at BWV, there was no coffee table (don't know if that has changed-I hope so), making the room LOOK bigger. But there is no difference in size.

We were in a 2BR at BWV in May and the studio side still did not have a coffee table.

ok...I guess the pictures just made the bathroom/kitchenette area seem smaller. We didn't have a table at BWV but did at VWL.
We are staying at the BCV next year (our home resort) for the first time. :goodvibes

What you are being told here is people's perceptions and guesses...the facts are not clear on this...My personal perception regarding BCV 1 BR (have not done their studios) is that they are smaller---some will say not noticeably---but noticeable is in the eyes of the beholdler but smaller is not a matter of opinion but of measurements- cold, hard facts....so you can read this thread...

Thread about BCV being smaller

or to summarize the available factual evidence: (ASIDE FROM ALL THE OPINIONS PEOPLE post that pretends to be evidence):

Posted sq footage by DISNEY says BCV is not smaller-not clear if these are average sq footages, or the largest unit in each resort or what...
Posted sq footage by the Unofficial Guide says BCV IS smaller (these are actual measurements from their limited samplings of rooms)
Posted Room floorplans on the official DVC website can be put on top of each other and while the beds/appliances, etc all line up as exactly the same size in the posted floorplans--the ROOM size of BCV is smaller--shorter and narrower...

My conclusion based on all of the above is that at least some of the BCV units are smaller in a way that some people notice and others do not/can not notice...
Bottom line--If size is really important to you--- go to OKW..

Well, after just having a long talk with my wife, she assures me that size does not really matter,so we will be fine when we check into our 1bedroom villa next Sunday at BCV.

That's what we all say.

I have thought BCV is comparable in size to SSR & BWV. :confused3

I can't find the square footage on BCV, but here is the footage on studio's at SSR & BWV:

SSR - 355 sq feet.

BWV - 359 sq feet

If you're interested Old Key West studio's are 376 sq. feet. :teacher:

WELL.....

From the New Guide Book "The Secret to Making your Vacation Dreams Come True" states:

SSR
Studio 355 sq.ft
1BR 714 sq. ft
2Br 1075 sq. ft

BCV
studio 365 sq ft
1BR 726 sq ft
2BR 1083 sq ft

WLV
studio 356 sq ft
1BR 727 sq ft
2BR 1080 sq ft

BWV
studio 412 sq ft
1BR 814 sq ft
2BR 1226 sq ft

OKW
studio 390 sq ft
1BR 942 sq ft
2BR 1395 sq ft

SO...... SSR is SMALLER than ALL RESORTS????????????????????? (on Prop)
WOW, how many people know that????

DeerH

When we stayed at BCV last month, the first thing dd said when we walked into our studio was...hey, it's smaller than BWV. Yes, I know they have a coffee table where BWV does not. However, it is a wee bit smaller. Even the bathroom area, tub and toilet, is smaller. Not by much, but it is noticable. However not a big enough difference to not stay there!!

Just another item to throw into the mix. 10 Sq. feet is not much. I think the rooms are probably about 10 feet wide +/- a foot or two. Well that means the room is only about 12 inches longer.

Here are few other square footages you may like to add to the comparison

(Standard Rooms)
All Star Resorts -- 260 sq feet
Carribean Beach - 314 sq feet
Port Orleans - 314 sq feet
Coronado Springs - 314 sq feet
Wilderness Lodge Resort - 340 sq feet
Animal Kingdom Lodge - 344 sq feet
Beach/Yatch Club - 380 sq feet
Polyenisian - 409 sq feet
Contemporary - 422 sq feet

So it looks like no matter which one. The DVC studios rank up there with Disney's deluxe hotels in size. (and you don't pay for a microwave or a refrigerator to boot)

Whether differences in sq feet are "much" or "not much" are matters of individual opinion...the point is that YES--there is a real difference is size -whether you notice it or not-not all the studios are the same size...I agree not one of these size differences would stop me from staying in a DVC room....it is a small factor but it all goes into the complex equation of location/theming/pool/points costs, etc when deciding in which DVC to stay....

They are much smaller-DO NOT STAY THERE-get the word out to as many as possible.

If I've learned one thing from these boards, it's that when it comes to room sizes, TRUST NOBODY. It seems that every source that actually measures rooms comes up with different answers, and if two sources give the same measurements, it's because they both copied them from a third source. :rotfl:

For example, if you believe what's been posted so far, a BWV studio is larger than a Polynesian room.

If it's important to you, pack a tape measure. And let us know the result.

I guess failed to give my source. It came from the manual issued to travel agents by Disney. I use to work for the state tourism board in Tenn.

Take them with a grain of salt. As I believe that Disney is not always consistent, but it was the best I had.

PSK44 - You are completely and totally correct that yes one extra foot of room could make or break a vacation for some people. Fortunately, I am not one of those people. But my attempt was to put some reality to square feet given. For those of us (myself included) that have difficulty visualizing what exactly is a square foot, I put up a comparison that I understand. Many of those who are worried, have stayed in one of the rooms listed, now they can compare the stated measurements to something they know.

The Unofficial Guide does use a tape measure to give their reports on room sizes...

TnRobin--I never said that 12 inches could "make or break a vacation"--in addtion that 12 inches figure I believe is pulled out of thin air or confusion over how square feet works...12 inches would be a difference of one square foot not 10.--I don't see any figures where the differences are that small-10 square feet is a bit more than 3 feet x 3 feet-- ...if you believe the figures posted here the difference in size in studios is more like almost 7 by 7 feet additional in one room vs the other..that is not enough to "make or break a vacation"--but most people can notice 7 feet by 7 feet.

I stayed in a studio at BWV and there was a coffee table in my room. I stayed there last September. :firefight
