Are the refillable mugs really worth it?

We are a family of 5. I'm guessing that mugs would be about 60.00. We will be at POR for 8 days. We'll have a refrigerator & can bring 6 pks of soda, milk, etc. I doubt if that would cost 60.00.

The one benefit that I see to the mugs are that the children would have a variety of beverages to chose from.

Then again, how often will we feel like walking to the food court just to get a drink when we are already beat from walking all day. :confused3

What do you think? Are the mugs worth it? :)

My kids loved going back and forth to the food court to get drinks when we were there last. We would also get a drink on the way to the bus (and drink while waiting for the bus) then put our mug in our backpack and fill it again on the way back to the room. We also like to use them at home. If you have someone in your family who does not like a lot of coffee or soft drinks, maybe it would not be worth it to get that person one. My two year old will not need one this time, and I doubt if I will get the four year old one, but I plan to get one for the rest of us.

:wave2: I was afraid to read this post as there is a history of people who are really sensitive with the cup thing :rolleyes1 .... but We buy them every visit and think that they are worth every penny. We get more drinks than if we had to purchase them seperately. :cloud9:

Guess it depends on how much you will use them.

We got them on our trip and I would not purchase again. I can not tolerate the fountain soft drink (water) at WDW and had to stick to bottles.

We stayed last year for 10 days... so for us it was only "a dollar a day" to use the mug. haha, You couldnt buy any drink at disney for only a buck. So even if we used them for only one meal a day, they still worked out well for us. :sunny:

For us, they weren't worth the $$. DH had his Starbucks every morning from the coffee maker in the room. DD doesn't like fizzy drinks, and milk and juice weren't included. I only drink soft drinks occasionally. Also, we only set foot in the food court once in a four-day trip- we ate in the parks all but one meal. And, since we had a fridge in our room, we had H2O bottles, juice, and milk available without having to trek to the food court.

If you are going to eat at your resort a lot, and drink soft drinks and Disney coffee (Yuck!), and don't mind running over to the food court every time you want something to drink, then they would make sense for you. If not, then they wouldn't.

Totally not worth it! As you said, your family won't spend $60 on store-bought drinks for a week. If you bring your own, you have the option of picking up juice and milk (do we really need to encourage our kids to drink more soda?), and you can take your individual-sized containers on the bus, then toss them as you enter the parks. Plus, who wants to wash the cups?

We bought the mugs last year and we will buy them this year. It was easier to use them than buy a drink per cup and we used them quite a bit ( about 4 times a day ) while we were there. You can get whatever drink you want and if you want coffee after your meal, you can use the sink right there at the beverage bar rinse it and refill. For us it was the best plan since the DD likes to try every drink and I like iced tea with my meal and coffee after lunch/dinner. Besides it is a wonderful stroll to the food court at POR in the evenings to get a cup of coffee or whatever, quite romantic  I even use them to take my coffee on the drive to work in the mornings. I think it is a personal preference really, dependent on how much your family drinks and how much you are willing to bring with you on a plane, for us the mugs worked great.

We got them on the last trip, and for us, they were worth it. The kids could get their own drinks~whatever they wanted~without having to worry about money. This was a great benefit I hadn't even thought of. Made our day at the pool so nice! (Let Mom relax for a change!)

But the coffee really is pretty bad(!)

What is included? Just soda?

Our next trip will be for a 2 week stay so I'm sure it would be worth it for us.

I am drinking coffee out of my 2003 Sping Break cup as we speak, so we use them all the time. Great Souvenier!!

Soda, Coffee, and Hot cocoa. Yes, I think it would be worth if, especially if you are staying for two weeks.

I believe lemonade is included. And POP Century had slushies as well this past Feb. But I'm pretty sure not all the resorts have this. I know POR used to (going back to '98).

I think it's worth it (unless I'm staying at BWV and have a fridge for a bottle of soda).

We buy one and we share that one drink between myself and my two DDs although I usually end up buying my younger one a carton of milk. I don't buy four mugs for the four of us! One per trip.

I love when the resort in question has frozen Coke!! Yum!

They are worth every penny! It's may seem like a lot of money up front... but you will be amazed at how much you really do drink! It's great while sitting by the pool or even a cup of coffee in the morning! ;)

I hope they are worth it, LOL! I just got two from a private seller, and will use them for me, DH, DD and DS for a week visit next month. I love coffee, DH and the kids love soda (and don't have it much at home), and DS loves his hot chocolate too, LOL. I think it will be a real treat for the kids, and at POP we won't have a fridge in our room for soda or ice, so I think it makes sense (cents? LOL) for us to have 2 mugs for 4 people.
