We went on a 7 day in Oct 2003 and didn't take sea safe. We swam in the water in Grand Cayman, Cozumel & Castaway Cay and were fine. DD's were 9 & 7 at the time.
Barbara, I read in an earlier thread that apparently the jellyfish babies (sealice, as they are oh so affectionately called) are only a problem at a certain time/times of the year. Can't remember when though , sorry. But maybe a search for jellyfish or sealice or even sea safe might turn it up. You might not have to take any. Good luck.
Thank you everyone for your replies! I think we'll order one bottle and see how it goes on. Sounds like it is some thick stuff, but better than the rash!
Well yes they are. Where else would they get all of that water from? It has been desalinated so it is "fresh water". All of the non bottled water is from the ocean/sea and goes through the desalination process. They can make a lot of fresh water every day!
Sea Safe is a cream that you apply to your whole body (especially under your swimsuit - as a prevention of sea lice). It comes in "plain" and with sun screen. What it does is help you from getting stung by jelly fish (or sea lice - which are baby jellyfish). Most of the time it is really not needed, but in the bahamas (castaway cay) during the right time of the year when the baby jellies are "hatched/born" they can be a problem. They get up under your swim suit and as it drys or as you take it off the nasty little blighters will sting the heck out of you and leave you with a nasty rash ("down there") for a few days.
