We are leaving in a few days and I just checked the weather for Port Canaveral and the Bahamas. It looks like it will be nice but not overly warm. Highs in the upper 70's. Are the pools on the Wonder heated? I hope so!

The pools were definately heated onboard when we cruised last week!!-- the adult pool was about 86 degrees and higher the entire time-- even when it was raining and 60 degrees at night!! The hot tubs were heated too (of course) if you watch channel 12 in your staterom it gives you all that info! Outdoor temp, pool temp-- it's nice to know what to wear!

Yes, the pools are heated. The Mickey pool will feel cool, however, if it closes for empyting, cleaning and refilling.

do they have enough fresh water onboard to refill the mickey pool if an "accident" were to happen on a sea day--we are going on a transatlantic crossing fro 6 days--can they refill the pool or will they just drain it and wait til port to refill?

Yes the pools are heated. If there is an accident (especially the 'kiddy' pool), they empty the pool, clean it, and then re-fill it with fresh water. Have a great cruise.:)

All the pools are heated. They post the current temperature for all the pools on one of the in cabiin TV channels, along with the outside and sea temperature. We never found time to use the pools, and never noticed if any were drained, so I can't speak to refill time, but I suspect they have plenty of water purification capacity to refill it immediately. To my knowledge, ALL the fresh water is made onboard by desalination, they do not load water on in the ports.

just off the Magic today--yes, the temps are posted on the stateroom TV.

The temps ranged from 84-86 degrees for the 3 pools

I wonder if they are heated year around ie in the warmer months?? I just kow my DDs froze on day in the Mickey Pool. I could not keep my feet in?????

I don't know, but I would assume they keep the pools within a certain temperature range year round. "Freezing" has a wide definition, depending on your personal likes so it's hard to say. Sort of like at my work, they keep it at 72 degrees, which is the OSHA recommended office temperature.....some find that freezing, others find it too hot. Sort of like what APRILGAL posted about cabin temperature, she found the cabins hot, but admitted she keeps her house at 60 degrees in the summer........I'm always hot, but even I would find that cool.

I'm so glad they are heated. My kids will be thrilled since my DD was lamenting the fact that we were going during the coldest time of the year.:)

There was joke I had in mind about the Mickey pool being about 98.6 degress Yuck:crazy2:, but I wont mention it further. The pools are heated by DCL, not kids, and are cleaned then refilled if needed. DCL does fill up tanks with potable water at Port Canaveral and makes thousands of gallons on board. There should never a short supply of water.

We just got off the Wonder on Thursday and the pools are definitely heated. The family pool was comfortable - my husband, who is very sensitive to cold water, was just fine with it. The adult pool was as warm as bath water. It was probably the warmest pool I've ever been in and would have been too warm to do laps or serious swimming in but it sure felt good! The hot tubs were very, very hot.

OK silly question since I dont have kids...how do they know if there was an "accident"? :rotfl2:

When we sailed last June, my DD16 said that the Goofy Pool was really hot and she couldn't stay in it, plus it was crowded and she didn't care for that. I went in the adult-only pool and it was cold! Maybe they had just filled it or something, but there is no way it could have been called anything but "cold" by any stretch of the imagination. Only one other person was swimming in it with me, too. So, I think that you just have to feel the water when you're there and see what you think.

You might see a "floater" in the water - that's what the baby ruth looked like!

By the way, this is probably a dumb question, but I thought cruise ship pools were filled with salt water--sounds like the DCL ones are fresh (or treated rain water??)

Most modern ships use freshwater. Passengers complained about the salt water. They have desalinization equipment on board, so all the water started as ocean water. The end product is probably the purist water around, sadly health code makes them put chlorine in the drinking water. Sorry, I grew up on well water, right out of the ground without chlorine.
