Are the new security lines bad all day or just at park opening?

I know this system is all very new, but i am wondering if anyone can comment on if it is horrible mainly at park opening or is it bad all day long, or not bad at all?

I am sure they are still trying to fine tune the system to be as efficient as possible. I'm heading there next week (possibly considering going bagless because it is a kid free trip). Epcot I am arriving around 11am and then the next day MK probably around 3pm (both weekdays tues and wed), so i am guessing those times of the day wouldn't be nearly as bad as park opening.

I would guess you are correct. My experience, last week was only at opening thru mid morning. After that I didnt wait any more than 5 or slightly more minutes.

BUT....when I chatted with a few CMs last week during my stay, I told them I was surprised at how low the crowds were considering I read they were at 10's the week prior. I was consistently told that it was the calm before the storm and Easter week was going to be extremely busy.

I have read that is the case when Easter week was in March, typical of a lot of states school Spring Break. Not sure how it will be since Easter is so late this year.

Also, Im not sure what you mean by NEW security line. They seem to be the same as at least the past 5+ years. Not sure about Epcot, this time I stayed at YC and went through the back for all my visits. Possibly the front is different ??

MK has new security set up it is no longer in the front like it used to be.

MK now has security at all transportation outlets... so by the buses, monorail, boat which started on Monday of last week (I believe, although when I was there on 3/27/17 they had started slowing doing this process; for example we walked over from Contemporary and as soon as we got to the end of the walkway there was a bag check table set up and medal detector to walk through).

If you do a search there is at least one thread discussing the new process.

I didnt know. I guess Im happy we left Monday and did not attend a park :) I didnt notice anything unusual prior to Monday except the metal detector, which seemed to be only for random people. I never was chosen :)

I follow thetimtracker on YouTube and he went to MK the other day and the lines looked awful! And the way they had it set up you had to stand in the sun/rain when waiting on the tram now. The old waiting area at TTC for trams are now for security.

I have to say that that just ramped up my anxiety about the park entrance procedures! Primarily in relation to Epcot - finally got the splurge room at Poly and now my deluxe room rate gives me the gift of having to go to TTC to get to Epcot!

Also, thanks for a new 'rabbit hole' on YouTube - one more creator that will cause me to wonder 'where did my day go??'

I'm honestly not sure if it's faster or not.. Tonight I happened to try getting on monorail from poly.. no line, nobody really waiting, security was a little slower but they didn't need to be faster.. it was great coming off the monorail and immediately going left directly into MK instead of around the bend, down and then back up..

At TTC with trams basically dropping off 4 to 5 people per line at the same time can really feel and look crazy long waits. some of that is people jsut too lazy or don't notice the bagless lines on the ends to walk over too so they are clogging up the bag check. The trams come through pretty quick so generally it's about 2 trams of people being checked at all times.. mid afternoon when I saw it, not much of a line and quick. but that's in, from there your jumping on monorail or ferry.. it's been packed so that hasn't been quick at all but it's not a result of security, it's just week before easter sunday and that's always crowded.

At MK for walking from contemporary or busing, it's more agents than they had checking everyone but they do seem to be a little congested but not horrible. they are checking really well so it's more that it's new and it's realyl crowded. resort boats only have 1 line like monorail so that feels backed up realyl fast, especially if coming off the larger of those boats.

today was first blockout dates for some APs so since they introduced the change APs with blockout have been coming out, it's just a busy time of year.. To be honest, comparing it to thanksgiving week or similar crowded time of year it does seem to be getting you in pretty quick so it's a good change...

MK looked really weird at first with much more room. I really enjoyed it.

Tim went on the last day before AP blockout started.. it's always more packed on that last weekend before it starts and hte first weekend after they are back. Today (sunday) it was more pleasant.

I was there the last two weeks. Security lines at the front of MK seemed shorter to me this past week after they started screening people at the Monorail Resorts and TTC, with only people arriving on buses being screened right at the park entrance, but we generally did not enter the parks early in the morning.

We were just there from 3/31-4/8 and went to MK two days before the new security procedure and two days after. Going through security was so much easier after security was moved to TTC area. We didn't go during rope drop but in the mornings when people were still arriving en masse. We had no problems going through then, which was much larger crowd than in the afternoons when we went back after our break at the resort.

I don't find it bad at all.. Yes there are times when there are a rush of people like park opening or start of a ticketed event but the tapstyles would be just as crowded. it's just another stop on the way into the park.. The tapstyle takes much longer than security in my mind..

and yes, security is always there...
