Are the filets really disappearing?

Many times the items are not put back om the menus. The crab legs have been gone for months, I believe.

I really think that's unfair (I'm sure I'm not the only one) considering that not everyone on the dining plan is on the FREE dining plan. I'm helping my sister and her boyfriend plan their late September trip. They are using my DVC membership for accomodations, so they are paying for the dining plan.

Disney needs to really STOP. First they changed the DP. Booked free dining last October for this Sept with the bounceback offer and that was when appetizers and the tip was still included. They took that away. Now it's the filets! That wa what I was planing on eating often while I was there. I am seriously getting fed up with it. Every week it seems something is being taken away or the price is being raised.

Yup, I got an AP room discount, and then paid for the dining plan. Since we can only go for a weekend at a time, the room discount is worth more to us than the free dining plan.

Anyone know of a good hotel or small condo, a cheap rental car and have a list of high quality off site restaurants for mid-October?

There's a thread over on the The DIS Unplugged Podcast board reporting that filets are off of the menu at WDW restaurants. The speculation is that it is to lower costs during *free* dining. I was wondering if anybody in the parks now or just returning can confirm this or has noticed anything else missing from the menus?
Is that official though, or just speculation? I listened to the most recent podcast, and don't remember hearing anything of the sort.

Respectfully, though, by the time you booked the new conditions had been released for a couple of months already.

UGH, it is one thing after another with Disney and the ddp! This makes it really hard for very picky eaters like us. We booked Kona for the filet ONLY! We both love it. Nothing else on the menu looks good. We do not eat fish and do not get chicken at ts locations since we can go to WGPE and get the same wonderful chicken with a cs credit. We are meat and potato people for sure. If Le Cellier cuts out the filet there will be nothing there we like either. My 2 fave places to eat b/c of getting the filet and now we don't get it b/c Disney feels the need to be even cheaper??? That just burns me up. Disney makes PLENTY of money and just b/c free dining (which is not really FREE b/c I am paying rack rate for my room!) is coming around they want to only have the cheaper stuff on the menus?

Great job Disney, first take away the apps, add on tips, get us to pay rack rate for a room and after we have all paid you take it a step further and downgrade the menus just before we come in. Disney Dining needs a new head!

I hate to see what is next! :sad2:

That is true, because I also booked with the bounce back promo last year, and that's why I decided to upgrade to the deluxe plan.

I agree. We are not on the DDP and we leave Tomorrow. We planned a nice dinner at Narcossees and I had a wonderful filet there in the past and was looking forward to it again. This place is not cheap and we are paying OOP for it. They could at least have the nicer cuts of meat. I will double check before I cancel. We have dinner at 1900 on Tuesday night, so will stroll down to Narcosseess to check out the menu.

Us too. We leave Tuesday morning. When is your ressie to Narcooses? I think I will just call ahead to Narc/Kona/Brown Derby and see if they have it that night. I think this is crazy.

Has someone on the board actually tried to get a filet this week at one of these places?

Hey I saw the discussion about the filets. Me and dw had dinner at Kona July 30th and the filet was still on the menu then. Everything was very good. Dw had the filet which was awesome she said. Kona was one of our best dinners while we were at MK.

It was reported that this weekend was when the change was to occur.

My ADR for Narcoossees is Monday 18th. Our 1900 is Tuesday the 12th.

I just called Kona, I reached a central line-that's what the lady said anyways, she said she would transfer me to the podium, which is when the gentleman told me that the filet mignon is no longer on the menu, but they have the beef teriyaki... So, I guess I'm really not going to Kona, I'm so dissapointed, :confused3 someone on the review board also reported the choco mac nut tart was removed

Well my cost to eat at the world just dropped dramatically! I will be dumping all my finer dining choices that were picked because I like a good steak :) Any word on Brown Derby or Narcooses?

That's what I'm thinkin'--the price of dining next month just went way down. Can you say counter service?
