I honestly did not expect "deals" when we bought DVC. If we want some of those specials, we can book them. I wish the economy would be better right now.
Someone, maybe Dean, said that the point system set up doesn't allow for discounts or specials. Heck, I'm still annoyed that DVC began charging us $95 to book Disney resorts! Every so often, I mention that to a MS satisfaction person, they are always so willing to explain their rationale to me, but they will never convince me that they "have to."
If you guys can lobby for specials, I'll try to use them, but I won't hold my breath.

I don't think with the point system it would be possible to offer "stays for less points. The whole system is based on having the maximum number of points at a resort that can be used in a year. Letting people stay 7 days for a 4 day booking would throw the whole system out of wack.
True.
But they could offer incentives for trade-outs (Disney hotels or cruises).
Not really, because those deals are still available to me. I can always bank my points, and take advantage of the offers if they are too good to pass up.
To me, it's real estate. I purchased property that I now have access to when I want to travel. Just like my home here, I don't expect perks.
I didn't expect any deals either. And I wouldn't have expected some of the offers Disney is promoting due to the economy(especially the cruise discounts).
It has just caused me to pause to think about whether it makes sense to bank my remaining 2009 points for use next year when the cash deals probably won't be available.
