Are the CMs as friendly as at WDW?

I haven't even arrived yet, but I just haven't been feeling the magic. I've called a number of times about our reservation and to make PS arrangements and other reservations such as Fantasmic! seating and none of the CMs I have spoke with seem to be as friendly and warm as those I have spoken with at WDW, in fact some have given the impression that they just want to get the hell home and couldn't care less about helping. Maybe I have just been unlucky, but I have also read reviews on TripAdvisor about dreadful CMs at the DLH. How have people who have experienced both WDW and DCa found it?

I have been to WDW and Disneyland many times, most recently a 10 day stay at Disneyland and DLH. I have never had a rude cm at Disneyland. In fact, the nicest cm I have had anytime at Disney was the lady who checked us in at the DLH two weeks ago (her name was Diana). In fact every cm I encountered at the DLH from the mousekeepers to the people working at Goofy's, the pool bar and the lifeguards were just wonderful. And in six stays at that hotel, they have all always been courteous and helpful at the very least with this last stay being over the top in the nice department! I did however get a incredibly rude cm when I tried to make a DVC reservation through Member Services this week. So it can certainly happen anywhere. But I think you have been unlucky at this point.

As far as Tripadvisor reviews of the DLH, have you read Tripadvisor reviews of the WDW hotels? They are generally not that great either, Tripadvisor is a great site but its primarily used by bargain hunters who given the high prices of all Disney resorts are going to be looking for reasons to report "they didn't get their money's worth". I always take Tripadvisor reviews with a grain of salt and I always remember that a negative experience will get posted more often than a positive one and that often the negative stories will be more likely to get exaggerated. Good luck, I love DL and WDW and I hope you will too!

I've been to WDW too many times to count. I recently went to DLR and noticed a big difference in the CMs there. The CMs at DLR are much more pleasant and helpful. I thought it was just me at first, but I talked to my wife, dad, mom and sister they all noticed it as well. I prefer DLR over WDW because of the CMs.

We booked three nights at DLH in December and I was a little concerned as well because of the Trip Advisor reviews. I'm relieved to read on the boards here that almost everyone has had a stellar experience! We taking our son for his fourth birthday and I think the DLH will be perfect for his first Disney experience - we can't wait!

HAHAHAHAHAHA...

DCA guys!!! DCA!!!

Two people made this comment to me...

1) Hey, You guys at DCA are sooo much nicer than those in DLP.

2) Hey, You guys at DLR are so much nicer than WDW...

At the end of the night, i was like... HAHAHAHAHAAHA, take that WDW and DLP! :D

I have been to both as well and honestly didnt notice any difference. I have had nothing but good experiences. Ooops, wait, I did have one very rude person working at the Tower Of Terror at WDW, but other than that, they were all wonderful.

I think it depends - you can always get a CM in a bad mood or not as friendly at either place. I will agree that the phone CM's for DL are not as "disney-like" - not that they aren't nice, but I did miss the "have a magical day" and all of that.

However, at both WDW and DL I have found both WONDERFUL and not so good CM's.

We've always had great experiences at the parks. Sure there are a few crabby ones here and there, but they are the rarity IMO.

Our first trip to DL we tipped the bellhop a bit more because we had quite a few bags and he was really helpful with times and places for events (we were at the Disneyana Convention). He gave us tickets to see a Mighty Ducks scrimmage game (before they were "official"). Of course it was dh, myself and a friend with all DL CM's and nobody in our area knew hockey so it was quite funny and fun at the same time.

I think a trip is what you make of it.

I haven't noticed much of a difference either.
The CMs taking tickets at any park seem to always be in the worst mood though. I think that in general, the older CMs are friendlier - but I can see why some of the CMs wouldn't be in the best moods. When it's hot and there are lots of visitors or people are being rude it's just like any other job and you get a little cranky as the day wears on.

I have to admit that the CMs at DCA are usually my favorites!
I've had several get into full on conversations with me and the guy taking FPs for Soarin' played a hilarious trick on me. We both had a good laugh. And the only time I ever called Disney to give a good work about a particular CM was for "Iain" who did an amazing job on the Tower of Terror.

It's hit or miss I'd say, but it's such a delight to meet a very friendly and helpful CM no matter where you go.
