Are the characters allowed to....

hold babies? My DS will be 8mos when we go. Of course we want to take pictures of him w/the characters, but I wasn't sure if DH or I have to hold him? (this is also hinging on whether he will LET the characters hold him!!)

We took Alyssa to WDW in October (she was 6 months) and several characters held her (and she loved it).

Due to the bulkiness of the costumes, the characters need to sit down. At Crystal Palace, Piglet pulled up a chair and held her. The same was true at Garden Grill...both Mickey and Dale pulled up a chair. At 1900 Park Fare, Tigger and Pooh sat on the floor with her. I think all of the princesses at PSB sat down and held her (no bulkiness with their costumes, but safer I guess!).

The lines were pretty long when we saw them in the parks, so the characters rarely held her then. But Stitch did sit down with her in MGM. And Peter Pan and Wendy sat down with her by POTC (they called her a lost girl...very cute).

Oh, and we saw Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco. Jasmine asked to hold Alyssa and she wouldn't give her back! Aladdin must have said goodbye 3-4 times, but Jasmine was in love with Alyssa and she kept cooing over her. I said, "Jasmine there are a lot of other little kids waiting to meet you." And she replied, "That's okay." It was truly a magical moment. (and I'm happy to report, she did finally give our baby back! )

My son was asleep by the time we got into to see Cinderella. He was about 15 months old. We have the most precious picture of her holding him in her arms as he slept!!! As others have posted, she was sitting down when she held him.

Yes the characters can hold babies, as long as the parents are ok with it. Also not all characters want to hold kids, I think they are concerned due to the bulkiness of their costumes. But even the ones that dont want to hold, always want to play with babies.

We took our DS at 9 months old. We went to O'Hana's for breakfast one morning. Goofy came running over & just scooped up our DS and played with him for 10 minutes. DS was in heaven. He was huging Goofy & laughing the whole time.

Dale also picked our DS up at O'Hanas and actually rocked our DS to sleep! We have the best video of it. It was so sweet!

When we went to Cape May for the character breakfast, Minnie scooped up our DD-7months and wouldn't give her back! Minnie is her favorite character...who knew they had preferences at such a young age! She played with her and carried her around the restaurant for a long time. Then she kept coming back for her. We were tempted to leave her with Minnie for the day but the CM escorting Minnie made her give us back DD

As long as the parents and the babies are willing, most of the characters, when they have time, will pay ALOT of attention to them.
