Are the beds in the pirate rooms at CBR comfy?

Just wondering if the beds and covers are comfy or do they feel like cheap beds and covers you typically get at a motel? Do they have comforters or those thin blankets?

same as a standard hotel. nothing special about them but the frame they're in

I was fine with it.

My Ex HATED it because he is 6'2 and kept hitting the frame.

Basically, the bed is a big wooden platform, with a bunky board type thing on top and then the thin, foam mattress. I do not have back problems and I found my back to be stiff and sore after two nights on this bed. I was very glad my dh who has a horrible back wasn't on this trip with us. These beds are just fulls. The bed cover was a thin bedspread. There was also a thin blanket and sheet below it. Nothing that I would deem "comfy" and yes, similar to a motel. If you choose this type of room, do it just for the pirate theme (it is super cute), but not for comfort or convenience, since they are far from Port Royale.

Port Royale is the lobby/food court/themed pool area located at the front of the resort. I have not personally stayed in one of the Pirate rooms, but the owner of this site, Pete Werner, did a review on it and said the beds were absolutely horrible. He thought the rooms were cute, but he couldn't stay in the room because of the bed. It doesn't have a mattress like a regular bed; as mentioned by a pp it was just a thin piece of foam. Because of this, I would never stay in one of those rooms.

Thank you for the review. I think we may want to reconsider staying in the Pirate Rooms. We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and this was a few years ago before the renovations and we loved it. I wonder if Port Orleans has better rooms now than CBR. Maybe we should go back there?? Our 7 year old son wants a pirate room but maybe we can talk him out of it. We just thought it would be nice to try a different resort. We stayed at All Star Movies last year and didn't like it at all so we decided to go back to moderate resorts.

If your son loves pirates do the pirates voyage boat trip to see wishes one night. It was fabulous!!! Kids get a meet and greet/ party with pirates, Captain Hook, smee and Peter Pan.
Amazing!!!!

We have stayed at POR as well and just loved it. When I shared the information in this thread with my husband in addition to that review, he said that he doesn't want to stay at CBR anymore. He just wants to go home (POR)

I took a look at the mattress at CBR, and while it wasn't just thin foam, it was like getting a nicer matter *topper* at Ikea. I didn't find it awful, but I didn't find the room to be all that fabulous. We went for DS, who was 6 at the time, and once he got over the "jewels" on the bedspread (just the design) it was just a room.

The walk wasn't bad for us, but then it was just before a cold snap started in Dec 2010 so I would say it's cooler than it normally is. And we were pretty tired and jet lagged, and just seeing the sand was neat for us.


POR, however, was fabulous. I'll say that we did stay in a Royal Room (which DS liked, and it's not just a princess theme...there are princess pictures, but it's not JUST them) so maybe it was a bit nicer than a normal room (I am not sure), but it was VERY comfy. And pretty. And lovely. And I liked the pool better than at CBR.

We loved the pirate rooms! Every one has their own opinion about the softness/firmness of a bed but we didn't have any problems

He have stayed at por three times and CBR once. Our ds 7 loved the room. The beds didnt bother is at all. The walk was long but ds the complainer of the family didn't complain once about the walk. We probably won't stay there again but glad that we did once. Ds loved it so much.

I have to agree. the beds were way better than i expected.

We stayed in a pirate room over spring break last year and I was nervous due to some negative reviews I read on these boards. However, we all thought the beds were fine- not uncomfortable at all. I thought the foot board would bother my DH, as he usually sleeps with his feet hanging off the end (he's tall), but it didn't bother him at all.
