Are tag threads verboten

Don't get me wrong, I am by no means looking for a tag. I like mine the way it is, always have. But I saw a thread, back on page 2 I think it was (catching up after being out all day), from a happy DIS'er who was tagged last night. I read it and noticed when I got to the end of it that it was closed. There did not seem to be any controversy in it (unless some was deleted), just going along and then, it was simply....Closed.

Just wondering if this is a non-discussable topic. Again, not looking for any tags myself, I'm happy, but I do know well that those tag folks here do bring many smiles to those who get them, and for that, I'm happy.

Anybody know what's up?

Dan - I am sure that you must have seen my two recent threads about the Tag Fairy.

The begging and thanking threads have been getting out of hand and I asked that in order to keep the CB uncluttered that all Tag Fairy conversations take place on the Tagilarchy thread.

I see. I had seen your threads on the tag stuff, Lauri, but had not looked at them (I read virtually nothing on the tag stuff, as I personally am not 'into' tags)(but sure do like the joy they bring for so many). So, the way I read it there, (on Caity's link)(and with a quick skim), they are not allowed any more?? Correct?

How embarrassing to be reprimanded if you're a fresh face to this board/website.

I think it's a heavyhanded way to run a forum that's supposed to be a FUN forum. That's just my 2 cents of course.

Personally I think the whole thing is silly, people begging doesn't hurt anything as long as they know its possible they won't get one....heck just let the tag fairy retire if its annoying....

Tag begging threads never bother me. I think they are harmless and fun. I can't see why people would be bothered by them, so add my 2 cents in with the rest.

Please let me remind you that board guidelines are never supposed to be something discussed on the board. Those are to be taken up one on one with a moderator and/or a webmaster.

I was/am not trying to stir anything up here, and again, not at all into tags. But, if it is board guideline, I think (JMO) it should be posted somewhere, whether in a board or forum guideline, a stuck thread at the top of a respective or all boards, or something similar.

It may sometimes look like I read everything here, but somethings I don't, and most tag stuff is among them, as said, not into tag stuff, other than I truly like seeing other people happy about them. The only reason I did read the one I did (linked in my OP here) was because the OP of that one, yourtravelpro, posted something on the CB the other night about being bummed out or something like that, and that type of post I will always look at. It turned out to be that she was bummed out about not having a tag. I offered a word of support to her and went on. When I saw her post here today, I thought how nice, she got her tag. Then found it closed.

I did not read tagging 101, 102, 103 or any other numbers. I do not read the tagarch thread (I was invited to by several of the folks who do, stopped by, thanked them and begged off)(again, I am not into tags, for me). I do agree with several posters on this thread about guidelines that can get posts either closed or deleted or edited not be buried in individual threads that will be long gone in a day or two or only come across by folks who happen to have read that thread that the warning or new guideline was imposed in.

I simply posed my question here as I saw a thread that was closed for no apparent reason. No argument from me, as said, don't care about the tags, for me. Just want people to know what the rules are, especially for new people who may come to the board subsequent to a rule being imposed in a thread.
