If you stay at the Swan, do you have access to the pool at the Dolphin? How would you rate the pools at Swan and Dolphin in appearance, warmth of water, convenience, etc.?

The Swan and Dolphin share all of their pools. There are a few lap pools/quiet pools, hot tubs, and the wonderfully themed grotto pool. I have heard from many who have said that the grotto pool is the next best pool after SAB! I have never been to SAB, so I can't compare, but my children and I loved the grotto pool! There is also a lovely play area complete with a water squirting seal sculpture nearby on the beach area, along with hammocks strung between the trees.

Hope this helps!
Debbie

PS I had to respond to your post because I kept on picturing real live swans being released into the grotto pool! :)

We stayed at the Swan last summer and we LOVED it!!!!

The lap pool was great - and very quiet! We did walk over to the grotto pool several times, and my kids had a great time playing by the waterfall!! The water is nice and warm - a little cool by the waterfall, and I didn't find it that crowded at all!

We stayed at the swan in aug and our 3 ds 15,13 and 11 loved the grotto pool. I would say it is on par with storm along bay. Yes by the waterfall it is a little cooler. There is also a part that has water volleyball which our kids loved and they did , however, say the slide was lame and slow compared to the volcano slide at the polynesian. Also, some parts of the pool are pretty deep, like at least 5 feet, so if your kids are not good swimmers you might want to bring water wings etc. I dont know what they have there that you could borrow etc. Also I did feel the one lifeguard on duty was a bit inattentive. We saw the storm coming and he should have got everyone out long before we made a quick dash during the thunderclap. Also I feel he had alot of area to cover and was sitting in a rather awkward position to have a full view. I am glad my guys are strong swimmers. Also the lounge chairs are great. You have your pick and its not crowded, at least not when we were there. I did see a few people smoking which annoyed me, since my ds has bad asthma. Also I saw there was a sign, no food or drink on the deck (this was the grotto pool.). I really did see it only after we were having our gatorade and snacks. No one said anything to us.

The Grotto Pool was voted "the most lush and exotic" by Disney Magazine a few years back. When you are at the Grotto Pool, you truly feel like you are on a tropical vacation! Lots of palm trees, waterfalls, white sandy beach....it's a beautiful oasis in one of the best locations on WDW property!

We love it!

We are going to the Swan for the first time in a few days :) We are longtime YC vistors and love SAB and was a bit worried that the Grotto Pool would be a let-down, but i am so happy to read these posts and see that many people love the Grotto Pool. I can't wait now :)

I am a little disappointed to read that people encountered smokers at the pools. Smoking at pools really ruins that atmosphere for us. It happened to us the last time at SAB and it was awful--the smell followed us whereever we moved. I know that there isn't a 'no smoking' sign at these pools, but i really think that there should be one designated smoking area so if people have to smoke, it can all be in one area and no disturb everyone else and little kids.
