Are studios hardest to book? Surprised by no OKW Studios...

This was our first time trying for a ressie at a studio at OKW and for October on a Sunday. There were NO studios anywhere at WDW other than SSR which we grabbed and got on the WL for OKW. But, I was surprised. I feel like I always hear how easy OKW is to book. We are OKW owners but have always booked pretty far out and always 2BR units in the past.

So, my question is, are studios going first for ressies?

Is OKW getting harder to book b/c of the low points?

We just bought at GCV in addition to our original OKW points, and now I am thinking I may need more OKW points if I can't book OKW at the 7 month mark!

Well, I know OKW has ongoing renovations until next spring, so they might have a few buildings closed for your trip.

Is it Food and wine? I am going mid October over a weekend and I could only get SSR. I was bold and asked for Boardwalk, BLT-no go---tried Beach Club then OKW-nothing for a studio- just me and my son- didn't want to use points for a 1 bedroom for just us. I didn't check for them. SSR is very nice!

Both of those reasons make sense - F&W and the refurbs. Doesn't anyone just want to tell me to go ahead and buy some more OKW points? ;)

studios generally good first

then 2-bedroom

finally 1-bedroom

with GV depends upon the season - sometimes they sell out before the studios - sometimes they still have some.

this is not true for BLT - for some reason (probably the size of the studios) - it looks like the 1-bedroom are more popular here.

This happens every year. For four years running my son has waited too late to ask for a room in October and has mostly been out of luck. This year I booked a 2BR just in case. DM booked a studio but they will cancel if my son decides not to go and she'll come in with us. F&W and Halloween parties in October.
Do the waitlist and you just might snag my Mom's studio if they cancel.

Interesting, I would have thought the 1br's would go before the 2br's! Lately I've had the hardest time getting into OKW, once it's renovated I'll ansolutely have to book at the 11 month mark!

studios and 1-bedroom sleep 4 - most of the member who can would save points for another trip.

this was before akv and blt that sleeps 5 in a 1-bedroom. plus if OKW goes to this - would expect their 1-bedroom to also be more in demand.

Food & Wine is definitely part of it. That is often and "adults only" quick trip for many members. And it if is just adults without the kids, a studio will often do the trick. :thumbsup2

That has never been our experience with attempting to book OKW (and we always request studios). Every time I call to find out what is available, OKW has been offered. You may have just gotten into a flukey situation where it was booked for your dates. I don't think that's the norm, though. Either way, have a great trip! :goodvibes

You should go ahead and buy more points! You can never be to careful!! :thumbsup2

It is tempting!!! We love OKW even better than places like Westin Villas in Maui because there is just something about the atmosphere and the rooms and the pools to our family.
