Are shakes considered beverages?

If a shake is listed in the drink section on a menu, is is considered a "drink" for the sake of the dining plan? Or would it need to be ordered as a dessert?

It might depend on which restaurant you are talking about. I know that at Sci Fi Drive In we were able to get a shake as our beverage.

We got a shake for a beverage at Le Cellier. Also at the ASMo food court, the beverage could be a shake. YUMMY!
