Are selfie sticks banned yet?

While not on the prohibited list, I certainly hope so. I know they are banned at WDW and DL, and onboard the ship space is much more precious. Having selfie sticks waving around can be a hazard.

I want to bring one to use on excursion days. I am courteous to others and will use it on balcony, excursion days, etc. I hope they don't ban them.

I doubt that they will be banned on the cruise line since one of the chief reasons they were banned in the parks were people using them on attractions, causing the ride operators to hit the emergency stop. No such issue on the ships other than the water slides.

I hope they ban them too..at least on the ship. I would hate to see a camera on a selfish stick from another veranda while I'm sitting on mine.

Another vote against selfie sticks. While I'm sure a lot of folks are considerate when using them, so many are not. I doubt they will ban them, either, but I wish they would!!

I haven't been on a cruise in the last two years where someone isn't banging me in the head with one of those things. Like someone else said....it people would use them curtiously and considerately it really wouldn't be a problem. Ahhhh if only.....................

I saw hardly any of them on our cruise earlier this month. I don't have much of an issue with them except when I was at WDW. I am SO HAPPY they were banned. Now I just wish they would ban all the ipads being held up in the air during fireworks and parades.

as soon as people start hanging them overboard and then dropping them accidentally, they will be banned on the cruise.

The only time I have had a problem with them was when we went to Rome this March. I didn't have a problem with the people using them, it was all of the people trying to sell them. We even had one that we used a few times and that didn't stop the people from trying to sell us another one.

My daughter just bought one and she looks forward to using it on our NYE cruise in a few weeks. I'm pleased to hear they are still permitted!

Given...we don't have a selfish stick. We are still human enough to communicate with another human our desire to have a group picture and ask if they would be willing to use our camera to take the shot for us...we're so "old school" haha! I feel like from a view blocking perspective...kids on shoulders in the middle of a crowd (instead of at the back) are a much bigger PITA.

I brought mine on one cruise (Transatlantic) and used it on excursions. They can be a very helpful tool for a group of people to take a pic. They can also be fun to use if considerate of others. I saw very few on the Panama Canal cruise earlier this month but no hazards that we encountered. I personally understand why they are banned at WDW and DL but hope they don't ban them on the ships. If you use one just be courteous and mindful of those around you!! I could have used one on the PC cruise for pics in front of the Gingerbread House with friends when it was 11:00 pm and no one else around. It certainly isn't in-human to use one. Sometimes there are just not people around to ask to take a pic.

The day they banned them at Disneyland was the best day ever. I would hate to see them on the prohibited list for the cruise but would be OK if their use was banned on the cruise itself. There is a time and a place for selfish sticks (I am totally stealing that).

I don't have one but I do agree with you, mmouse37. I can't tell you how often our pictures only have 3 of the 4 of us. To take a trip of a lifetime and not get a good pic of your whole group is disappointing. As long as people are courteous about using a selfie stick, I don't have an issue with it. Obviously they should not be used in the middle of a big crowd, etc.

Not sure if it is an "official rule" but I was not allowed to use one on the Aquaduck this past March.. They said I would need to use either my head or chest harness, which was fine by me.
