Are salads considered to be appetizers?

We're considering DDP for 3 nights in December, with 2 of our TS credits going towards a birthday dinner at Citricos and the third probably at Ohana or Coral Reef. In perusing the menu for Citricos and reviewing the stipulations for each meal, I see that the TS is one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert. Can a salad be substituted for an appetizer (most are cheaper than most of the appetizers) or would that be OOP? I would not expect to be able to have both, but I want to have my facts straight before laying out the options for paying for food to my parents and to my in-laws, who are joining us for this trip!

Yes, you can pick a salad as an appetizer. Or soup. That's what DH and I usually choose.

The only time I could see a restaurant not allowing it is if it's a special entree type salad.

Most of the time, when you tell your server you're on the dining plan, he/she is very helpful in guiding you through what they allow on the plan.

Hope this helps! :wizard:

We found that at lunch the small side salads (which cost the same or less than other appetizers) were not allowed as appetizers. At dinner it was never a problem but apparently at lunch any salad is considered an entree.
