Are room requests worth making?

Our only request at BWV was non-smoking for medical. We were on the 4th floor about 2/3 of the way along the corridor. That was fine.

At OKW we have requested N/S for medical and close to HH each of 3 times. We have received Bldg. 23 two times and bldg 64 this last time.

When we checked in this last time, the CM told us we were in bldg 63. When we called later and got our room #, it was bldg. 64. No big deal to us. We didn't have a car, so the parking was not a problem.

I'm glad to hear that we are not the only ones that have never had a request met at BWV. We always request an upper floor /open balcony. We end up getting the same room every year! It's the 2 bedroom on the second floor over the store. It used to upset us, now we tend to find the humor in it. It's actuually a great room, but we like to SIT on our balcony, and when you sit on these you can't see over the rail. We've tried getting there early in the day for a first come first serve basis, that doesn't work either. IMHO they put people wherever they can fit them. In their defense, it would be a nightmare to try and meet requests, but it would be nice to be on an upper floor just one time! I read somewhere that they don't allow DVC to fax the room controllers either, is this true, or would that even help? We're going again in two weeks, so we'll see what happens!

When we were at SSR in May, I heard talk that WDW is going smoke free in June....anyone can confirm this ? that would remove the necessity for that request, if it pertained to DVC as well.

We have had the experience a number of times that the check in cast member tells us that our requests were not met (checking in around 9 am). Then when we indicate that we don't need the room any time soon and can wait, they are able to meet our requests. As well, we have always had better luck when arriving by Magical Express around 10am at MCO.

In May, we were switching from OKW to SSR. We got up early and checked in at SSR at 7 am. They were able to meet our requests....then we drove back to OKW to pack...and sleep a bit more !!

We just got back fro OKW today. I told my husband on the second day that I was going to stop requesting things, because it seems like we always get the exact opposite. I have some mobility problems, I use a cane sometimes. I have bad knees and requested 1st floor for this reason, and a building that had a bus stop next to it. We were on the 2nd floor and 2 blocks from a bus stop. I know that doesn't sound far but after walking the parks all day that last walk can be brutal. The one time I made no requests I got a great room with a great view. Our home is Wilderness Lodge and now Animal Kingdom Lodge. So I think we will stay there, where there are elevators. OKW is a beautiful development and we really enjoyed the larger rooms.

Yes, as of June 1 all WDW resorts, including DVC resorts, are smoke free. This has been officially announced by Disney in a variety of manners, including the official web site. No need to make that request anymore.

my mom wont like that but all well she just have to deal lol, um maybe its just me but any time ive stayed any where and made request (my steap dad cant climb stairs couse hart attack) or other requests ive always got them. of course i do call like 5 times befor my trip making sure they have it in system. i call when i make arangments, i start calling three months ahead of time, then 2 then 1 and 2 weeks and day befor i leave for trip. i always make sure if im paying for something im getting excatly what i requested.
