Are room door decorations allowed?

Does Disney allow exterior door decorations on thier hotel rooms? Are the doors metal so that magnets could be used, rather than tape or something that could damage paint?

I have never really seen magnets used but we have decorated & have seen plenty of windows & doors decorated. LGM heads are seen all over doors and windows to represent the boards... Get creative its fun & i think people love seeing works of art! I know we do!

I purchase the inexpensive metal wreath hangers, then hang an approriate wreath on my resort room door as well as a few decorations in the window. I never use tape or markers of any kind. Mostly clings or other cute things on the window ledge. I also take window cleaner and clean the window upon my leaving. So far the rooms I have stayed in have metal doors.

I get metal hangers because they are very thin, I bend the hanger around the wreath for stability and to discourage sticky fingers. I know we are in Disney, but there are still those who would like to ruin our fun.

I also try to keep my decorations within the holiday or the already theme of the resort. For example we are staying at POFQ, so my wreath and decorations are Mardi Gras theme for our June 2011 trip.

We decorated our window with homemade Disney window clings. Our girls had a fun time rearranging them whenever we were in the room. We also decorated our door with magnets. We had plenty of then taken during our 12 night trip in September though. We were on the ground floor so that might have had something to do with it. The first night of our trip we actually were laying in bed when we heard someone say "they have so many, they'll never notice if we take a few of them." Of course, I wouldnt have cared so much if our girls hadnt have asked the rest of the trip where some of the magnets (with their favorite characters on them) went or if it was later in the trip before any of them disappeared.

That said, we will decorate again the next time. Our girls had too much fun with the decorating to let them miss out on that because some others are selfish!

I too have fun planning and making my Disney trip decorations. So sad to hear that someone thinks it is ok to take. We have always been on the ground floor so far and never had a problem. One couple even stopped and knocked on the door to tell us how much they like the decorations.

Be sure to take pictures from the outside, we forgot on our last trip and I was bummed when I went to do a page in my scrapbook.
