Are Rainboots Overkill?

I know forecasting a week out is notoriously inaccurate. But, I'm looking at a couple days with 50% chance thunderstorms right now. I'm thinking with highs in the high 80s rainboots are overkill and too hot? (We'll be hitting up F&W and MVMCP. And Seaworld and Universal.)

Waaaay too hot. Just bring enough shoes so if one pair gets wet they have a day to air dry.

We had one day of full on rain and I happened to be wearing flip flops that day (it wasn't "supposed" to rain until 1pm but started at 10am and we planned to just be there for the morning) and that was terrible. My feet were slippery so I had to walk slow. Generally when it rains it's not an all day rain but more like an hour or two. Looking a week out at the forecast was useless for us...it went from raining almost every day to 9 days of sun and 1 day of rain.

We have worn rain boots, but it wasn't 80 degrees and it was raining so hard AK had closed most everything because of flooding. All the trails and safari were closed. For a few showers I wouldn't worry about it.

Maybe not overkill for Pirates?

Edit: To answer more directly, I wear sandals (Crocs) every park day, and only put on socks/shoes if we have dinner at a resort. This makes me pretty water resistant.

I wouldn't wear them. Thunderstorms in Florida are often just for a short time. You might have a storm that lasts an hour or less. The rest of the time rainboots would be too hot and uncomfortable to tour the parks in. Even if you changed out of them when it isn't raining, what would you do with the boots the rest of the time? Carry them around in a backpack? We usually just wear our regular shoes and try to take cover during a storm. If there is a day when it looks like it will be raining for a good bit of the day, we might wear sandals rather than our tennis shoes.

I wear a fisherman type sandal, they have straps but are well padded. If they get get, no slipping and sliding and dry quick. I'm kind of a big kid and may have actually jumped in a puddle or two on purpose.

Way, way, way overkill. Just the thought of wearing heavy rubber boots in high 80's temps with FL's ferocious humidity...yikes.

When a forecast says "50% chance of thunderstorms" it means that there is a 50% chance that there will be a thunderstorm somewhere in the forecast area at some point in the day. It does not mean that there's a 50% chance that there will be all-day, non-stop thunderstorms.

In WDW, that forecast usually means "there might be a 10-minute rainstorm late in the afternoon, during which everyone will duck into the nearest gift shop or counter-service eatery, and then the sun comes back out and everyone goes about their business."

We travel into Parks with either/both fresh socks and/or flip-flops when rain is in the forecast.

Glad I asked! Thank you all. A couple pairs of comfy sandals that can get wet it is. So much more room in my suitcase for souvenirs!
