Are prizes only giving away it the first part of the day?

Most (if not all) reports for the dream fast passes are in the mornings. The castle giveaway would have to be before the parade. I havent heard of many in the afternoons/evenings, but I would think it definitely could happen.

Please, please, please don't base your trip itinerary on getting a DREAM. The odds are low that you would even get one. We were there a full week (and at rope drop every day!) and never got anything.

The big dreams are awarded early but there are other awarded later--I still saw dream team people around 6ish--don't know what they awarding but they were definately doing something!

Just plan your trip out like you would normally and enjoy!!!

From the threads & reports that I have read; its all spontanteous and can happen at any given point... I remember reading one tr and she said when she went in the room w/ the dream makers they told her that before the day even starts they know exactly where and what time its going to happen... You just never know... its like lotto... a dollar and a dream!

As kaf7878 stated I would not change all my plans based on the sweepstakes your chances of winning are low regardless... To answer your question, this is from the sweepstakes rules and regulations which are posted on Disney's web site...

"Sponsor anticipates that potential winners will be selected at the Disney Properties between opening and 5 pm local time; however, certain prizes (for example, Mickey Mouse Penthouse and Cinderella's Castle Suite) are likely to be awarded early in the day to help ensure that a winner will be able to claim the prize"

So to answer your question yes... the reason that they have it set up this way is because Animal Kingdom closes at 5pm certain times in the year and to be fair to all the possible distribution locations this time was put into the sweepstakes rules. With that said, keep in mind that the rules also state "Each day of the Giveaway, numerous prizes will be awarded randomly subject to a minimum of 1,551 prizes per day" MK alone can have over 30,000 people in it on an average day if 1551 prizes are being awarded per day and the locations are 6 theme parks, 2 water parks and 2 downtown Disney locations (WDW and Disneyland) the odds are against you.

Also kaf7878 mentioned seeing the Dream Squad later in the day... yes... you will see the Dream Squad anytime that the park is open HOWEVER this is not the prize team. The Dream Squad has 2 roles. The prize team (will be wearing the white YoaMD vest and always travels in pairs) issues the actual prizes and the greeter team (no white vest and should be alone) roam the parks to mingle, chat, answer questions and just be an "ambassador" if you will to the parks... you will see the greeters out and about whenever the park is open, but the prizes themselves are only issued within the timeframe stated in the rules (unless there are circumstances beyond control and then they could be issued later in the day, ie: someone declines a prize...it happens...and it needs to be re-issued).

I go to WDW a LOT and all I've won from the Dream Team are 2 Dream Fastpasses and a pin. Both FPs were given out first thing in the morning and the pin was later in the afternoon. I didn't actually look at the time, lol.

Don't plan on winning anything. I mean, you *might* luck out, but the chances are really, really slim.

I am not really planning on winning anything, I just was thinking it would be fun if we did.

I figure if we are never around in the early part of the day then we have zero chance, but if we get up early and go we at least have a slim chance.

I don't really plan to hit the lottery either, but I do buy one ticket every week. I figure someone will win, it just may be us and if we don't buy, we can't win.
