Are Poly bungalows booking well?

Just curious. Are the poly bungalows sold out regularly or is there often availability? The rate is so high it is hard for me to imagine people willing to spend that much money for a bed for the night!

They do look beautiful though! If I had the $$$$$$ I wouldn't mind spending a few nights sleeping there!

I haven't checked availability on them but when we were at Disney last week, we went back and forth on the ferry a few times going into MK. I was curious about them so I made a point of taking a look and most of the bungalows looked unoccupied - completely dark at night, for example. We did see someone sunning on the deck of one unit one afternoon. But other than that didn't notice any signs of occupancy.

I can see Disney having to drop the point requirements on these with DVC. But in return having to really raise the point requirement on the studios.

I personally don't think you are going to see Disney really raising the point requirement on the studios and reducing the bungalow's. The studios at the Poly are already along with the VGF the highest with DVC and doubt they would raise them all that much if at all in order to lower the points on a bungalow. The bungalow's are too rich for my blood and more than the points I have per year, but I'm sure there will be those more than willing to use the points.

I took a look at pictures of these rooms online and they are extremely beautiful. I would love to stay in one, but realistically there is no way I could afford it at this time in my life. Hopefully Disney will lower the rates in years to come.

They must be selling well and/or Disney still has faith n them, considering they just announced building more at WL.

I think some DVC members will be booking them by banking and borrowing. I think other people will spend the money on a once-in-a-lifetime event like a honeymoon. Still others will simply have the money and the bungalows will appeal due to the exclusivity factor. But I think it will be a couple of years before they start filling up.

My opinion on the whole thing is. IF I had the money I would rather fly to the south pacific and get a real bungalow at a cheaper rate and be able to swim in crystal blue waters. ESPECIALLY if I was honeymooning. If my husband told me for our honeymoon he booked a water bungalow and I ended up at Disney, I'd be pi$$d.. but that is me.. I would have in my head Tahiti..

I think people that have that money also think bungalows = south pacific and disney = not a bungalow ( but a standard suite/club level with more privacy) I also can't see any celebrities with cash booking those due to privacy... Boats driving by with views of one on deck. etc.....

But there are so few of them and enough Disney lovers with cash who will still book them.

I looked just for the heck for maybe one night during our upcoming 10 day June trip. No availability...

If I am going to shell out that kind of money to stay in an over water bungalow...it sure in the hell will not be over brown swamp water in Central Florida. Ew.

For the same money, you can fly to Fiji or the like and experience the REAL thing..

Not for te same amount, but A LOT less will cost a real bungalow vacation in the south pacific, mauritius etc. based on a week Poly vs week there. That is what I find crazy, that people fall for this. Yes they are nice but as PPmsaid over brown, bacteria, gator water, no way.

Friends honeymooned and paid 5000 one week, all inkl with flights. For two

I agree that you're better off going to Fiji for the real thing. I'd rather stay at Aulani though lol. And even staying there is significantly less than the Poly Bungalows.

You have to call in to check availability on the bungalows. We had one booked for November but cancelled when they announced the work on the east pool. No way am I spending that much and looking at construction. When I called I had my choice of dates as I was considering April, May, October and November. All were available for a cash stay.

A CM recently told me you can fly to Bora Bora and stay week cheaper than in WDW for a few nights.
