Are personal strollers safe when on a ride?

Hi all! Long time reader, first time poster. Thanks to everyone for all the helpful messages that I've read.

We ("we" meaning me, dh, dd almost 5, and ds almost 2) are going to Disney World in August for a conference and are tacking on a couple of days before, and about 6 days afterward to do all the parks. :yay: We'll be bringing our own stroller. It's a Chicco umbrella stroller, the kind that has a shoulder strap so you can carry it when it's folded up. Anyway, my question is this - can you safely leave your own stroller in stroller parking areas while on rides, and expect it to always be there when you get back?

Also, the train the goes around Magic Kingdom says "no strollers." Can you bring your own on, all folded up?

Thanks for your help!

Jenny

Hi,

Strollers at WDW for the most part are safe. The story of a stroller being stollen are few and far between. Most of the time, it's because the stroller looked exactly like someone elses and they took it by accident.

The best thing to do is make your stroller unique and easy to identify. I tied Lime Green ribbons on mine.

Also, remember that sometimes the CMs of a ride will move the strollers around to make room for more so don't be alarmed when you get out of a ride and can't find it right away, it may have been moved.

Do NOT leave valuables in your stroller while on rides.

Yes, strollers have been stollen (the most reports are at DTD because its a free place where anyone can go) but it's rare compared to the thousands and thousands of people that go to WDW daily.

I had the same concerns when we went 12/04 and we were bringing our brand-new Maclaren with us-the first few days I was paranoid... but then I realized every time we came off a ride, our stroller was still where we left it (Always take your valuables w/ you! :) ) I was much more relaxed about it for the rest of the trip and when we go in 195 days, we'll be bringing it again w/o worries...

Good luck! Have a great time!

I have had the same worries. We have taken our Maclaren Twin Traveler twice and our Mac Truimph once no problems. I was going to be mad :furious: to be stuck at WDW with out our double stroller since we rely on it so heavily. I am sure it happens, but so far I haven't seen it happen. I had more problems when we rented a park double stroller. I found more people mistaking ours for theirs.

Didn't have any problems with leaving our MacLaren. In fact after awhile I was almost blase about it and even places that didn't have stroller parking like in Epcot, I had no problem just leaving it. And this is from somone from NYC who is usually paradnoid about stuff like this. Also, it was such a pleasure to get off a ride or attactions and see a sea of rental strollers but be able to easily pick ours out of the crowd.

This comes up every so often and as beattyfamily says the stories are very far and few between but it COULD happen. I don't worry about it and I have bought a double peg pergo and a combi both many times and never had an issue.

People who go to WDW don't do it for stealing strollers.

Enjoy yourself, don't leave anything valuable on it. We leave things like food and cothes etc... on it often, but talk the camera and such with us on the rides.

Thanks, guys! I'll just have to remember to decorate the stroller with memorable but dispensible items. :)

Yes, you can take a folded-up stroll on the Railroad. We have never had a problem with our stroller and have left "stuff" in it all the time (even a Pal Mickey). It does get moved often while you're in an attraction, so it does help to have something that will distinguish it in a crowd of hundreds of strollers.
