Are package AAA discounts greater than room only AAA?

A few questions:

When people say room only AAA disc. through Disney, does that mean that I can book a package but just the room would be discounted at the AAA rate?

If so, is the discount higher on packages booked through AAA than a room only AAA discount on a package booked through Disney?

Thank you, I've been trying to understand this for a while now.

You can book a "room only" through Disney and get a AAA discount. If you want a package with a AAA discount you have to book through AAA.
I don't think the pakage discount is greater - I think it is just that you get the room discount off the price of the package. I could be wrong, though, because there might be a little discount on tickets, too.

Ok, so just to be clear. If I want a package with DDP and everything and use my AAA discount, I HAVE to go through AAA?

Hi! I was wondering the same as the OP. Although, do you think it is really worth it to buy a package from AAA or just purchase everything seperately from AAA?:confused3

We used AAA to book our package this past June. We got a discount on the room only. The tickets and DDP are the same price that Disney quotes.

We've used AAA several times, and the price has always figureed out cheaper than the Disney prices, or any other ways I've been able to find and buy separately. I asked my AAA agent to break it down into components, but she said she couldn't. The total is lower, so I've just been happy w/that! This year, Dreams Unlimited Travel came in $49 lower, but I'd already booked w/AAA. You might check w/DU before you book w/AAA. AAA does have some extras, your agent can fill you in.
Have a blast!

I think usually AAA adds a few little perks, such as Diamond parking, Storytime, and whatever doscounts.
Check with your AAA agent to be sure.
Keep in mind that booking through AAA means they own your reservation, even though you are paying. You will need to go throgh AAA if you wish to make any changes to your package.
Seems like many here do not realize this and then try to get Disney make changes for them, and they can't. This may matter to you. It may not.

I'm confused........I booked my room directly through WDW using my AAA discount - - so I got a good deal on that. Then I went to our local AAA office & purchased our Florida Res. Seas. Passes & got discounts on those too. I thought AAA offered ticket discounts to anyone so that if you booked a "package" you'd get the AAA discount for your tickets & your room. Since I'm in Florida I don't use a TA to book Disney - just take advantage of the AAA discounts.

AAA has certain categories of tickets that are discounted, but not all levels of tickets are discounted. At least this is true through AAA AL and GA.

Great point and one I did not realize until yesterday, when I tried to call and make sure our room was at the AAA rate.

They wouldn't give me *any* information about MY reservation, b/c the TA's name was on the reservation.

Ticked me off big time...so I will be calling today and will have her name removed from the reservation, since I'm just doing room-only...and she lied to me and said I had to do *any* AAA discounts through her.

So not a happy camper today!! :headache:
