Hi,

going to Orlando in August. I just wondered if mozzies were a problem out there? I dont really get affected by them but want to be prepared just incase!!

Thanks

I've been in August and not found them a big problem as WDW spray their land with insecticide regularly. But as the Wast Nile virus is now a potential problem I used insect repellent in the evenings and when not at WDW.

(I did get bitten once and the bite was huge.)

There was a letter in my hotel room (All Stars) warning of West Nile Virus when I arrived.

I've been in May,July and November and have never been bitten once but maybe that's just me being fortunate or not being sweet enough. My DW who tends to get bitten certainly when we've holidayed in Europe has never had a problem either, having said that I would always go prepared just incase one of the little monsters changed their mind,I say little monsters but some I have seen look like they've been on steroids:teeth:

I'm sure you'll get some replies from others who do suffer and I'm sure they'll be able to give you some worthwhile advise.

Regards

I’m one of those people who don’t usually get bitten but the 1st year we went we stayed off-site on I Drive and I was practically eaten alive! especially around my feet and ankle area. The second time we stayed on site I was fine until we visited US and IOA when again I was covered in bites by the time we got back to WDW. I can only assume that WDW really do keep those mossies at bay somehow!

We were there in August last year, staying in Kissimmee, and found the mozzies to be a problem in the evenings especially around the pool area. They're very sneaky - you don't feel them biting you at the time but you wake up in the morning to find your'e covered in big, very itchy bites! We bought a spray insect repellant from Walmart which was excellent, no bites at all after that.

We always go in August and I have not really found them a problem. We do use jungle spray at night though. WARNING - do not take the ferryboat out of the MKat night it is LITERALLY coverein mozzies, all over the seats and everywhere disgusting!!!

We've always been very lucky with not one bite (hope I'm not jinxing myself now!) but I have read that Avon's "Skin so soft" (a moisturiser) works as a repellant (though presumably doesn't smell unpleasant). IMO though I would prefer to smell a bit of bug repellant than be covered in bites! Guess we've just been lucky.

Hi
We went inOct last year and took repellent that we bought from Boots, DW didn't like the smell so said she wouldn't wear it but after 2 nights changed her mind!
I worked in Egypt for a while and had major problems with mozzies, we were told that at night they go for the feet and legs because of the smell!!! We had to scrub our feet before we went to bed and it worked!
