Are most fake pins/scrappers easy to spot out?

If scrappers/fakes pens are so are crazy wild all over the place and people say that 50%-75% of pins on cast members lanyards are fake? How do people know that for a fact? Are most fake pins/ scrappers "look bad" or is most cases is it really hard to tell? I still can't really compare/ look at my real pins (pins I bought from Disney directly in the store) with pins I know I traded for) I still cant really tell any major differences between them 0__o

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. There is really no sure fire way to tell if a pin is a scrapper/fake unless you've seen a non-scrapper/non-fake version. I do think that a high percentage of the CMS lanyard pins are scrappers, but you have to know what you are looking for. Usually, yes, the color is odd, some markings are missing, or the designs are slightly wrong, or something like that.

The term "scrapper" has come to mean both pins that have flaws that should have been scrapped and over-runs (e.g., the factory is contracted to produce 1 millions pins, but they make 1.5 million and sell the extras to the secondary market). The over-runs look like the pins you buy from Disney and those are generally indistinguishable from the "legit" pins. The defective/fake pins can (sometimes) be identified if you know exactly what the legit pin looks like.
