I got a new electric one a couple of years ago, and it had the same effect for me... My Hygienist was very happy!

Mine went out and I was researching which one to get, and mine needed the venting capability since it is over the stove, well it was weeks later and I still had not replaced it so I decided to just put a vent hood there and not worry with it, and I have missed it a few times, for quick touch ups, but mostly I am ok without it. One less thing to worry with.

I noticed it but just didn't want to draw attention to the fact that I use my microwave way too much

I was going to comment, but can't remember why I didn't. I couldn't have coffee in the morning without it since I warm my milk in it. But then you dont' drink coffee either....

True... But I do put milk in my tea. I use a insta hot for my water, so putting cold milk in helps cool it down to drinkable temperature.

I have the venting kind too, very handy. I don't know how I would live without it, but back as kids we enjoyed eating cold chinese leftovers until the microwave was invented!

Without mine my kids would never get baked potatoes, popcorn, or edamame. That's about all I use it for. Oh, and frozen breakfast burritos.
