Well friends, it was a sad day at our house last night. Our little lovebird passed away She seemed perfectly fine right up until she fell to the bottom of her cage. I have no idea if something was wrong or if it was just her time. She was a stray so I'm not even sure how old she was.

DH is taking it the worst. He was the one that found (rescued) her...well, she found him. She was so thin and the person that checked her out for us said she probably would have died soon if she hadn't hopped into DH's cart at Lowes and refused to leave. So we can at least feel good that we gave her another 4 years with a family.

It is funny how animals can work their way into your heart. I would never have considered owning a bird and wasn't particularly happy when DH brought this one home (I kind of had a fear of birds actually). But she became part of the family. Since she was a single, we kept her in the living room where we spend most of our time so that she would be around us more. We were never able to hand tame her, I guess because of too much time out in the wild. But she did like to have her back rubbed, etc. And she would hold conversations with us The house just seems way too quiet now (not that she was very loud to begin with, but still).

It's always tough when you lose a family member, no matter how small.
