Are "Men At Work" Signs Offensive????

Not offensive at all. I think it's a waste of time and money.

I see the word men used many times as 'mankind' rather then the sex, 'male'.

I still say mailman even when we had a woman mailman. It's just a habbit I; I can't stop myself.

It doesn't offend me at all. Sometimes "man/men" just means "person". Some people need to grow up.

As a former mail "man" (officially a letter carrier) I've heard coworkers complain many times, but I've also heard it said that the reason "men" and "man" is used is because "man" does not always refer to "male". "Man" refers to "huMAN" which is why a woMAN would be included in a reference to a MAN--kind of like "wo" is a specification of what gender the person is.

I can see replacing old worn out signs with new ones saying "workers ahead" as those old signs need replacing, but not tossing pefectly good signs just for the sake of being PC. It's a waste of money and resources. Good thought, bad execution.

People worry way too much about titles and symbolism IMO. I would prefer equal pay and such thing myself but I guess fussing about signs is easier.

Women working don't need a sign for people to tell that's what they're doing- lol!

But seriously, I also see the "man" as meaning "mankind" in other words, humans.
