We are flying southwest from Pittsburgh, Pa to MCO. It is a 2 hour flight that takes off at 7:35am. We will be traveling with two little ones and would like to know if meals or a small snack are served.

Thanks to all who respond!!! :teeth: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Small snacks (that early in the morning, it's likely to be a Quaker Oats bar).

We usually don't take such early flights on SWA, so I'm not sure what you'll get. Their info says peanuts/pretzels if 2 hrs or less. Our flights are usu about 3 hrs, and we always get a prepackaged snack box that includes a pkg of ritz cheese crackers, fruit snacks, pkg of oreos or something similar, and one other thing. I can't remember what that is. They also usu hand out bags of peanuts and drinks as well.

Take something--don't count on the airlines even giving you a drink. You'll be much happier if you do.

SWA has complimentary soda, juice, coffee, tea and I believe milk.
Mixed drinks are 4.00
Beer and wine - 3.00.

Even though are flights are about 2.45-3 hours long we generally only get a package of a Chex mix type thing and peanuts.

I think we are going to pack a few pb&j sandwiches for the kids and small snacks. Thanks again! :teeth:

we flew SWA from Phil to Orlando last month. The flt was about 2 1/2 hrs. We got a drink, small pkg of peanuts, and bag of mixed crackers. The flt wasn't full and they were giving extra's to anyone who asked. They had 2 kids who'd just graduated from basic training and they filled garbage bags with the snacks not given out and gave it to them to make up for all the snacks they didn't get in basic.

No food on SW.

Since we like to get to the airport early, and get in line at the appropriate corral, we bring snacks and eat them there. We have a banana bread picnic. :teeth:

SWA does not carry milk; though they do carry apple and orange juice most of the time. IME, the only time you'll find milk on an aircraft is when it is a widebody, and often not even then. In any case, milk for kids on an aircraft is not a great idea; if they get airsick, milk in the stomach will make the experience much worse.

Yes SW serves those teeny little packets, snacks are going away and even airlines like Northwest are charging for them now. Just bring something, it is more than allowed. I have always received drink service on all airlines I fly (I flew every week for work) unless there was turbulance so bad it was not safe for the Flight Attendants to serve.

I have a five-hour NS flight from PHX to MCO and they either serve peanuts/crisps twice or one of the boxed snacks one of the times. They usually provide drink service twice, unless prevented by turbulence. Shorter flights usually have drink/snack service once.

I would suggest taking a bottle of water for each person in your family, particularly the children. You'll have it available when needed. Take easy, non-messy snacks (well, as non-messy as possible) if your children will need something before arriving at MCO.

it's been 20 years since I've been served an actual meal on a domestic flight.

bring snacks and drinks. I usually pack a more substantial meal (sandwiches/fruit) to eat after we get through security before we board, and then snacks/drinks for the plane. we look like hillbillies but I don't care. being hungry makes the motion sickness worse for DD#2 and myself, and i don't want to be buying $5 airport hotdogs.

DH and I just got back from Vegas on Allegiant. there was nothing free - $2 for a can of Pepsi, $5 for a beer, and snacks were $2 and up also. I think I've seen airline food of the future...

Gee, how long can it be before they start selling McDonalds on the flights. Even WDW sells McD fries. :rotfl:

I like it when the airlines sell food. Granted, it's something that used to be free, but I like having something available even though it cost some $$ now. ATA used to sell two different really nice snack packs. One was full of great finger foods for kids, like a cookie bar and corn chips. They discontinued selling 'em not long before their Midway pull-out. If SW started selling food, I would probably buy it if I didn't have time to get something before my flight.
