Are Magic Markers a liquid?

What it really comes down to is that whatever is written doesn't matter so much as the person you get at security. If it says markers are prohibited then they will be taken. If it doesn't then they MAY be taken depending on the person who interprets the rules. I would say bring markers and crayons. And let your children know that you packed a new set of markers in the carry ons just in case they aren't allowed. This can be an extra present for being so good about it and not getting upset if they take the markers away.
(if you're going to Disney, the cost of a set of markers shouldn't bother you too much )

I'd be afraid to pack markers in my checked bag. I'd be afraid they would leak. I'm with the OP, just buy some at WDW if they really want them and just use them on the trip.

My husband had a blue ice gel freezer pack thing for his insulin and the TSA poked a hole in it even though it was checked with his bag. He had to check it. It was a mess as it melted, all the gel was inside the ziploc bag, but none got on the inside of his suitcase! We have to be patient right now.

at the moment, according to the dft, no paper is allowed on either. they made no mention of books, magazines etc being on the approved list. i may be wrong though. check out their website at www.dft.gov.uk. hope i am wrong but just thought to let you know

This is only in the UK. The U.S. rules are different than the UK and the rules on this website only apply to UK travel not U.S. travel.

I'd put the markers in a ziploc in your checked luggage, then take crayons along for on the plane.
