Are light up toys as popular?

The last time we were at MK, they still had the night time parade and the kids all needed a light up toy. I'm wondering if the light up toys are as popular now that there is no night time parade. Aka, should I go ahead and pay ebay prices now or can I get by with glow sticks from the dollar store?

Yes, there are vendors everywhere selling light up toys. It depends on when you’re going, but right now it’s nearly dark at 6 PM, so the kids see them for a couple of hours before closing. Fireworks are at closing, and then the kids love playing with them on the way out, at the bus stop, etc.

For toys I saw, there are light up bubble guns, light up swords, etc- all things kids seem to yearn for. We got by with one expensive plastic piece of junk and glow sticks from home.

Mom of 5 kids under 11 here. We have gone every year for past 5 years. We only ever bring glow stick necklaces, wands and bracelets. We buy them at Five Below or Dollar Store. My kids have never asked for a light up toy at Disney and I have a son who is the ultimate temper tantrum kid when it comes to toys. Not even from a value perspective, I just can't imagine having to carry one more bulky thing around the park.

We bring glow sticks from the Dollar Tree, (and extra to share)...that being said, I sat with my newly 2 year old for an hour and a half while my hubby and kids rode Mission Space again and we secured a spot for Illuminations. And he was a ball of energy and all I wanted to do was sit, so I spent the $20 on a light up Mickey that blew bubbles so he was entertained. We also stayed at Fort Wilderness though, so it was a hit on the golf cart at night LOL. I hope to just bring it back with us when we return next year, but if not, it was still money well spent.
