Are people going less often?

If the price of gas goes up to four bucks a gallon, as predicted, will attendance patterns change? Or will more locals go more often because its too expensive to take a vacation out of town?

Just wondering. . .

I don't think you'll see any impact this year as most the AP holders already spent the money on the tickets, so the extra buck or 2 for gas isn't going to stop them from going. Next year however, if gas prices stay this high (or go up) and AP prices go up (as expected) there will be less AP holders, then you might see less locals. The number of remote visitors will also drop as people will have less to spend on travel (either by car or plane) so more vacations will be closer to home.

(hi denyd!)

I for one did not renew my AP because of several reasons...one of them being that the gas prices kept going up and up and up for the past 8 months.

Hi Dobie,
The only impact I experienced was a $2.00 fuel surcharge per person for our bus trip to Universal Studios. We had prepaid our transfer but got charged that one when we arrived at the transfer depot in Anaheim. Not a big deal though.

As a local passholder I have to say that the cost of gas for me personally will not deter me from Disneyland. If gas goes up $1 a gallon I only get a tank a week so that is about $100 bucks a month over what I pay now. Not enough to keep me from driving the distance to Disneyland. We live about an hour away. As far as renewing my passes I don't think the cost of gas would be a factor in that but more how much joy do we get out of it. Lately the crowds have been pretty tough and we can only go on weekends and in the summer so I have to factor that battle into the mix on if I want to renew or not.

I have a 6.5 hour drive to Disneyland and the cost of gas doesnt change our mind about going. We are going in December. I drive a SUV where it takes about $50.00 to fill up and at least on fill up on the way. We just budget for it.
