Are guests at Value Resorts treated as second-class citizens?

Say you're accustomed to staying at the GF or Poly. Do you view guests who stay at the All Stars as "beneath" you? I ask because we have to stay at the Value resorts due to our financial situation. We love them, and see nothing low-class about them, but sometimes, on these boards, I get the feeling that not everyone shares our opinion that they're great Disney hotels. Anyone care to bite?;)

I have stayed at all three-- Mods, Deluxe and Values. I think that everyone needs to stay where they are most comfortable (financially speaking). I have a lot more respect for someone who knows that a less expensive vacation is the best path for them than I do anyone who neglects their financial responsibilities to stay at what is perceived as a "better" hotel. (I make this comment because I work in finance and counsel MANY people who will go on a fabulous vacation or buy extravagant gifts only to "forget" to pay their utilities) I have had great experiences at every Disney resort I have ever stayed at, regardless of how much they cost. I think the greatest thing about these boards is that there are people from so many different backgrounds yet we all have the "Disney thing" in common.
grinningghost- have a great vacation at the AllStars!!

Oh boy, here it comes...

Before the tidal wave comes in, I'll give you my opinion. Yes, there is a difference in the level of amenities at a Value resort and a Deluxe resort. That is to be expected. Deluxe resorts have fancier pools, more dining options, sometimes more transporation options, and sometimes better locations (the Epcot Resort Area comes to mind). As for level of service, that is left up to the individual. I think that most Disney CMs will provide you the same excellent level of service, no matter what Resort you are at. You will find some on this and other boards that will tell you that you are treated like cattle at the Value resort, just due to the fact that these Resorts host a much larger number of Guests. I have stayed at ASMu, and I experienced wonderful Disney service, so much so that I am booked at ASMo for 2/04. However, I do enjoy the finer details provided at a Deluxe resort, which I why I am staying at the WL in three weeks. :)

Don't expect anybody to admit that they feel they are above people staying at a Value resort. That kind of class warfare will get the poster flamed ASAP.

Just to get everybody heated, I WILL admit that I feel above the Guests staying off-property. Nothing like waving your WDW resort ID and getting into the parks an hour early while the OP people wait at the turnstyles. E-Ride Nights come in a close second. :)

OK, everybody got their flame-throwers in hand?

GO!

Hmmm.. interesting question.. are we sure this shouldn't be on the debate board?
At Disney I have never felt anything less than a valued guest ever. I have stayed at both deluxe and value (nothing in between for me.. lol) and I genuinely prefer the ASR's.. and when Pop Century opens it looks like I will love that as well.
On the DISBOARDS.. well, some posts I have read have an underlying attitude that hints at (sometimes screams) a feeling of disdain at anyone who would stay at a value resort.(of course it could be the interpretation but I am comfortable knowing that if I wanted to stay at a deluxe I can afford it-I choose ASR)
Really- anyone whether staying on site at the GF Conceirge or staying at the Rodeway Inn in Kissimmee if they show an attitude of wanting just to enjoy thier Disney Vacation I have absolutely no issue with where they are staying.

We have only stayed at deluxes on site and I think 3 times offsite. I never would judge somone for their choice of accomadations. Personaly, I prefer the deluxe (like who dosen't)but when it comes down to it I'd rather stay in a nicer property offsite than one of the All stars because they just do not appeal to me. One of our better disney trips was when we stayed off site at Gaylord Palms.

We will experience a moderate for the 1st time in 4 days. I chose CSR this trip because it fit more into our vacation budget than my first choice which would be Poly concierge;)

Grinninggohst,

I personally feel that your ability to stay or not stay at a specific resort should not be a general reflection of the Disney Magic. We have stayed in most rate catagories of the resorts. Each has their plusses and minuses. Our favorite for the whole family is Coronado Springs which is a moderate. We just enjoy the food, atmoshphere, and the pool area of that resort. Every where we have stayed we have always appreciated the ability to stay on property no matter where we stayed. Enjoy it, you will have a great time.

Granted, I haven't stayed in the Deluxe resort yet, but I've stayed in both a moderate and a value resort. Actually stayed in the moderate first. I didn't see a difference in the way we were treated in the moderate vs. the value. The CM's are much friendlier than any other employees at other vacation spots I've been to.

I've stayed at value, moderate, deluxe and home away from home resorts. Overall the "QAULITY" of service from the CM's is about the same regardless of where you stay, but the "LEVEL" of service is not. That is the big difference. I think that as long as you have realistic expectations as to the level of services and amenities at the resort of your choice, you're fine.

The only thing that bothers me is when someone uses an amenity of a resort they are not a registered guest of to the detriment of a registered guest of that resort. I don't care which resort you're talking about, it's not fair to those staying at the resort.

As someone who has stayed at all levels of Disney hotels I can say I love all of them. I prefer the deluxe resorts because of convenience, etc. But I feel that the CM service is more or less the same and personally, I really like the allstars. To me it doesn't matter if you stay in an all-star or in the Walt Disney Suite @ the GF you still experience the disney magic. Isn't that really what matters?

When you talk about using the amenity of a resort to the detriment of a registered guest of that resort to which amenities are you referring?

Anything specifically limited to the exclusive use of guests of that resort, and signed as such.

Are guests at Value Resorts treated as second-class citizens?

No ~ the moderate guests are 2nd class.... the value guests are 3rd class... get it right!! :p

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Disclaimer ~ I am totally joking here!!!!! and my DD can't wait to stay at "the dalmation hotel" and swears the pool at POFQ is the best one in the entire world. :)
>>^..^<<
Everyone's favorite example is pool hopping.
I don't feel that there's a pecking order amoungst the resort guests. Nor is there any "dishonor" in staying at the All-Stars. Everyone's got different resources and wants, that's all. The CMs at the park's don't have a clue where you stay, the transportation people don't care, and you can expect the same professional responses from the resort staff regardless of where you are staying.
Do CM's treat guests of value resorts as second-class citizens?
In my experience the answer would be no. We have had wonderful experiences at every WDW resort we have stayed at and I have no reason to believe that our experience was not normal.
Do some guests of deluxe resorts believe that value resort guests are second-(or third ;) ) class citizens?
Based on my experience I would have to say yes. There are deluxe guests who feel that those without the same financial resources as them should not be allowed to breathe the same air.
WOW, I guess you told us;)
Laura, soon to be 2nd class and proud of it!
Being but a Third Class Citizen (:p :teeth: ), I am not really sure what amenities would be deemed exclusive to registered guests. I can go to the spas, I can eat dinner at any resort, I can sit and watch the water pagent roll by, I can sit in the lobby of the GF and watch the world go by, I can shop at any shop I want, I can even use the washroom facilities in each and every lobby of every WDW resort if I choose. I'm not talking about pool hopping as I know that there are WDW rules about this.
What amenities are exclusive to registered guests at, lets say the GF? And how would someone use these to the detriment of the registered guests at that resort?
The only one I can think of now is the resort monorail or resort ferry.
But if I am eating at one of the Monorail resorts and am staying on site, I can use those transportation options to get to and from dinner.. can't I?
Don't you know that sitting in the lobby of the GF in your Wal-Mart shorts ruins the atmosphere for paying guests? :p :teeth:
P.S. The washroom facilities at the deluxe resorts actually include indoor plumbing!!! Can you imagine the luxury! ;)
