Was thinking of this summer on Hilton Head for one week, way to many points, so I thought about cash for Sat. night, and cash for the last Friday night. With the DVC discount, it is still $533.00 a night plus tax! We would be doing this with my sis, I would cover the points for Sun-Thur, and she would cover Sat and Fri. There are 7 of us total and the ages of the kids are 5, 6 and 12, I may bring a friend for the 12 year old. Should we splurge and just do it, or would we be fine in the 2 bedroom. How do the size of the 2 bedroom at HH compare to OKW?

HH livingroom is a little smaller than OKW.

I think you would find enough room.

However if you can afford it HH - 3bedroom is beautiful - even has a fireplace - okay not usefully during the summer....

There's room in the 2 bedroom, but someone's sleeping in the living room......how will that be in the mornings?

mornings are really not a problem, were all just one big happy family!!! Nobody is really a sleeper, I may go for the two bedroom, even if there are 8 of us, have my sis take the 2nd bedroom, and the four kids could sleep in the living room, do theyhave 2 couches like OKW, if so, the little ones, 5&6 could sleep there, and the 12 year olds could sleep on the aerobed, we brought that to OKW and this worked out great, they prefered it over the sleep sofa, more comfortable, and easier to set up! Do you think there would be room for it? Or toss all 4 kids in the second bedroom and put sis and hubby on sleeper!

The living rooms in 1 and 2BR villas at HH do not have the love seat like at OKW. There is a couch and a chair and the table has bench seating on two sides.

There is an extra amount of space in the second bedroom (where the kitchenette would be in a studio). It is large enough to put an air mattress. You may want to have the 4 kids in the bedroom with the 2 queen beds and put the other adults on the sleep sofa ( ... or go for the GV!) OKW 2BR villas are quite a bit larger than at HH and the 2nd BR in the HH villas is about 65 feet larger than at OKW. The HH living room is much smaller.

FWIW:

My friend has a family of 6 (dw, dh, 4 kids) plus brings her MIL when they go to HH every year. They always stay in a 2 bedroom unit. There is so much to do at HH in the summer that you're not really hanging around inside that much. As long as everyone had a place to sleep, and considering that you are one big happy family, I think you'd be fine.

Here is a pic of the living room of a 1 or 2BR villa at HH ...

Yes is can be worth it, but it is a lot of points.

I am getting 2 2bedrooms for less points than a grand villa next summer.

I had a GV last summer. It is an experience I will always treasure. The faces of my In-Laws as they dropped and hit the floor was - priceless. LOL After all - we were the Disney nuts - and what did we know. Where as the in-laws have never been out of New England. LOL

There are only 3 of us (DH, Me, and DS 8) We were in the master suite - son slept on the floor on an aero bed. So we felt like we were in a room all our own. The In-Laws were all upstairs. I never stepped foot up there - to get upset over them being slobs. LOL

I think the GV really helped us have a great time. Since we were able to split up so much.

You might want to recheck the points needed. HH 2BR villas are 33 points per weeknight in the summer (165 for 5 nites) and a GV is 58 per night (290 for 5) during the same time period. Two 2BR's would be 40 points more than a GV.

Yes you are correct. What I forgot, was that I was needing 4 bedrooms. So in correcting my statement, I was going to get a GV and a studio and found that 2 2bd. were 25 points less for the 5 nights. SO in other words, disregard what I said before, as I forgot about the studio.

So yes, A GV is worth it, and the family will love it.

I think the HH Grand Villa is especially worth it in the winter time. Snuggling up in front of your own fireplace when it's chilly and the ocean winds are blowing sounds just wonderful. I wish there were fireplaces in the 2BR villas!

I hope to be able to take a family trip there someday during the off season and book a Grand Villa.
