Are favors really worth it?

For our Vow Renewal we are having a silhouette artist at the reception. That will be the favor for our guests.

Since we've been discussing the subject of whether or not favors are even necessary, I thought I would pose this question for you guys... I've been thinking about an idea for a placecard/favor: Keep in mind that we're going to have a total of about 20 to 22 people at our reception, including us...so it'll be small. Do you guys think it would look good/be appropriate/whatever if I used little frames and put a picture of the guest with either/and Mark and I in there. All of these people are family members so it shouldn't be hard to find pictures. Then, I put that picture where they should sit. I could make it known that that's what they need to look for at the reception to find their seating. What do you think? Strange idea?

I think it's a great idea!

I love the little suitcase containers! I've never seen anything like that before. But can I ask, where do you get the welcome bags? Are they personalized? I keep hearing them mentioned but I'd love to price them out.

I love it!!! Such a great idea.

We did mouse ears at our wedding reception and used them as the place-settings so everyone could find their table.

We only had 50 guests, however, so it was easy for them to find their seats.

If you're going to do wedding favors, go with something people can reuse - not cheap stuff that's cute, but serves no real purpose other than being cute.

My cousin gave away drink "huggies" at his wedding. They say "Michael and Faith's Wedding," but we use them around the house.

Coffee mugs, tote bags, and of course edible favors are a good idea.

Did you go to the parks to have these done? Or did you find a place online?

Thanks!

Personally, I think edible favors are the way to go. We did Mickey & Minnie wedding chocolates and everyone loved them. We had 1/2 milk chocolate and 1/2 dark chocolate. They were a nice snack after dinner, or as my sister said, a great way to start the day before our good-bye brunch  The other thing I like getting is candles - who doesn't like a nice candle? Friends of ours gave beach themed trinket boxes and I love little boxes like that, but it didn't go with my decor so I ended up throwing it away. My friend got married a couple of years ago and gave collapsible wooden fans. What am I supposed to do with that :confused3 Like others have said, go with something useful or edible. Of course, having said that, I loved Carrie's personalized mouse ears - too cute!

I also did Mouse Ears but not as favors. I did those in place of a Welcome Bag. That way when everyone checked in they had thier ears. Most people were coming in on Thursday and Friday and the wedding was Sunday so it saved the parents from buying the ears
