Are extended evening hours for deluxe guests worth it at MK?

Are they an opportunity to ride with short wait times, or are they much more crowded because everyone staying at the deluxe and deluxe villa resorts descend upon MK that evening, LOL?

We went back in March and really liked the extended evening hours. Even if *everyone* staying in a Deluxe resort descends on that park, that's still way fewer people than all the other resort guests/off site hotels/day visitors that you'd get at any other time. Wait times were really low, especially as the evening went on, and we got some wonderful photographs of the two of us in an empty main street as the park closed for the night.

Extended evening hours are awesome. Mine train will have 30 minute wait. Peter Pan will have 15-20 minutes. Space will be 15, and everything else will be a walk on. These are max times, generally at the start of the extended time since day guests are still going through the lines. By the end these waits will reduce. Definitely worth it.

We're going next June. Are the extended evening hours for the most part on the same days of the week each week (i.e. MK always on Tuesdays, etc)? Or does it change week to week?

Yes, generally they stay the same parks/weekday.

EEH follows the pattern of the old night EMHs. When EMHs were still active, very infrequently they would swap nights due to an event or something. I think since EEH started it’s only went off the schedule once or twice.

Also keep an eye on the possibility of Hollywood Studios EEH. December has 2 of them in addition to EP/Mondays and MK/Wed’s; HS will have EEH on Thur’s Dec 15th and 20th. It’s possible they repeat this during other busy seasons but I’d love to see it made permanent!

Ok, perfect. Thanks so much!

The deluxe extra hour we attended was from 11pm - 1 am. There were very few people left by the end of the night, although our bus was full getting back to YC, BC & BWI. I think the later the extra hours are, the less crowded it will be. The late deluxe extra hours do make it hard if you plan to take advantage of early entry. We have APs & go a few times a year. We don’t spend all day in the parks anyway. So we’re ok sleeping in the next day.

Thanks!

Thanks! Were all the rides available during the late night hours?

I know for sure Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents & the riverboat were closed. I *think* Jungle Cruise was too. I can’t think of any thing else that was closed. We rode Mine Train at about 12:40, got off just in time to get on Small World for our last ride.

You question the worth in your subject line. The value (or worth) will be subjective.
Crowds will be lower than a fully open park, but it is still a lot of people; there are a lot of deluxe rooms, after all.

The price difference between a value room and a deluxe room can range between $300 and $1200 a night. You will have to make your own determination if the money is worth the extra magic hours experience to you.

I feel like the paid After Hours Events hold a lot more value. Less people and less cost, than participating in deluxe extra magic hours.

I'm glad this topic was brought up as I do have a question. This will be the first time I am going to WDW later this month with the new rules in place about Extra Hours only being applied to those at Deluxe Resorts. I am staying at Kidani Village and I was curious how the CMs determine who is staying at deluxe or not. Is it like a wrist band such as the ones given at the MVMCP?

Except when there is a torrential downpour the entire evening. We were disappointed, but it was lightning and most rides were closed anyway, so we trekked back to YC. It didn't majorly impact our trip, but worth noting not to completely rely on it for MK.

Your magic band or mobile ticket is scanned for access to rides (unless that changed).

Might rent points at OKW or SSR for our next trip to use this benefit.

So you will have to scan your MB, show your key card to get on any rides. No wrist band.

They scan your magic band, ticket, or phone at each ride entrance.

I will make it easy the second hour everything was walk on. The first hour because of the remaining guests there are lines depending on the ride. Less popular rides maybe after 30 minutes. If you can’t make it until close it may not be worth it.

When we went in April they just scanned oir magic band / pass at the rides to determine if that we were eligible. As long as your reservation and ticket are in MDE you should be fine.
