Hello!
I have a sailing booked with deposit only right now. Before PIF date.. I want to rebook as the sailing will be a bit cheaper. I believe I can modify but I wish to create a complete new booking as I need to pay for this trip on a certain card for insurance reasons.

Can I make a new booking and then cancel the old reservation? or will the system not allow it? thanks!

I assume you mean IF the price is cheaper or if a GTY or something? I still have not ever seen a straight up price go down on DCL, even if half the ship is empty! Or have you found it actually cheaper?

Yes call and they can make it work outside of PIF.

The main reason is I need to have the cruise paid 100% on a certain card. I made a deposit on another card. I live in Germany in the gold car that I have includes travel insurance ( cancellation and medical)

The other thing is the exchange rate has changed I’m trying to figure that out if I look at the pricing today, it’s much lower than it was when I originally booked because when I originally, but I had the currency in euro

To complicate things even more, I might want to rebook this via travel agent versus on my own as I have it right now. This will also give me some additional savings.

Does anyone know if I cancel? Does the system clear me out instantly or is there like a troll time where I have to wait a few days to rebook?

It happens instantly.

I also want to rebook one of my cruises for next year as the exchange rate has changed, therefore it’s now about £100 cheaper than when I originally booked as I booked in £.

Just an update I called today and OMG it was such a pleasure because I was answered right away not like the hours long wait during Covid times and the Lady was so helpful and kind. I did the post call survey and gave her 5s.

I got a great answer. If let’s say you make a deposit on a sailing on a certain credit card and then later you get a new card that includes insurance what they can do is make a payment on that new card and they will refund the original deposit amount - that way the entire trip is on the “insurance” card. ( i’m not sure how relevant my situation is to others, but I recently got a new credit card here in Europe that includes travel insurance for any trips that are booked using that card. My first card didn’t)

My situation, though, was a little bit trickier because I explained to the lady that I originally booked in euro and if I were to look at it again using dollars, I would save significant euros due to the exchange rate. Here though she has to cancel my original booking and rebook.

Keep in mind the rebook using the prevailing rate so if you have a Cruise, booked opening you might not have a saving. For me it was still a 500
Euro difference as I had booked back in October when for some reason, the dollar really peaked.
I don’t know what magic she did though, but she was able to book us in the same cabin, which online didn’t show availability as
That catagory showed not avail. So I even laid less than what I saw online.

Probably one of the best calls I ever made to DCL because I got through right away. The lady was great and I saved a bunch of money.
