Are Dole Whips that good?

I thought it was just okay. I have only ever tried the whip, not the float. It was good, but not rave about good.

For me, it's a big thing. I always get the Dole Whip float. But I am obsessed with pineapple (you should have seen me last night scarfing some freshly cut pieces down)...and this is such a refreshing treat. My husband doesn't like pineapple at all, so to him, the Dole Whips aren't good at all. But for this pineapple lover, it's the best!

I'm convinced the whole Dole Whip thing is a big joke. When the DIS boards first started, early members decided to claim Dole Whips are super-duper amazing treats - just the yummiest thing in the world. As new people joined, they were sucked in by peer pressure and agreed. Now the folks originally in on the joke just sit back and laugh as people keep praising the Dole Whips.

.

This is how I feel about creme brulee' people go on and on about how fabulous a dessert it is and I am like, what? it is the plainest non special dessert out there.

Nothing special, in my opinion. Just another flavor of soft serve.

The Legendary Dole Whip.

Well, I wouldn't know because I have never tried one even though every trip I INTEND to get one. But now I am a woman on a mission. I will try one on our next trip. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

So which one is better, the Whip or the Float?

Somebody else mentioned the Strawberry Arctic Swirl earlier. I do have to say those things rock.

If we are in Adventureland and want an ice-cream then we will probably get a Dole Whip. Wouldn't go out of our way for one though.

I had two while I was away, and they are wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried one a few years ago at the recommendation of fellow DIS'ers. I have to say I was VERY disappointed. I was like"what's the big deal?". It was just ok in my opinion.

DH and I prefer the coffee smoothies from Main Street Bakery (they used to be served in Adventureland at Sunshine Tree).

Also someone mentioned the strawberry swirl things they serve at Enchanted Grove...now THEY were GREAT!!...though I'm sure someone else might be like..."big deal"...LOL

Oh, yes they are wonderful and a not to miss item when I go to MK. My whole family loves them and we've even learned how to make them at home but not the same as going to WDW to get them. :cheer2: :cheer2:

I've only tried the whip. Even though I love pineapple, I didn't think it had much flavor. Maybe it was an off day at the stand.

Ok, last October I was so hyped, about trying these Dole Whips. From hearing so much about them on the board. I made my family, and friends. All 14 of us, backtrack to have these treats. We were late for spectromagic. Because, I insisted we get these. Let me just say. I love acidic. I love sour things. I love soft serve. Well, I was so disappointed in the dole whip. I was thinking. This is a dole whip? What is the big idea? To me, it is not sugary enough. But, the posters who said they do the vanilla, and pineapple together. Have peaked my interest in trying that variety. In my mind. I think it will be much better. Hopefully.

:cool1: :cool1: Pineapple Float!! :cool1: :cool1:

I loved it and would go out of my way to get another! Yum!!! And it was the only 5 minutes or so that I felt cool to the core in the MK. That alone was worth the price. Hadn't thought about making them at home - note to self: pick up pineapple sherbet and juice at the store!!

I've never tried one and tonight I dreamt that a show called 'Dole Whip Addiction' was on the Food Channel.

Are they THAT good?
IMO, Dole Whips are okay....I am a bigger fan of the Pineapple Floats.

IMO the float is better. I know some people prefer the whip on its own, and while I love ANYTHING pineapple, it's still just soft serve. WIth the float, you have the soft serve sitting in pineapple juice which loads it with pineapple flavor.

Ok so dole whip = pineapple sherbert+pineapple juice
and dole whip float = pineapple sherbert+pineapple juice+vanilla soft serve? Am I getting this right?

mmm.. Dh and I are just back from hawaii.. (yikes a non disney vacation :sad2: ) and were lucky enough to have DOLE whip every day... I must admit it tasted different there.... :confused3 maybe because the pineapple is not as acid as the ones around here... They had signs at the Dole plantation.. fat free /cholosterol free dole whip... Dh swears they tasted the same as MK....
will have to wait until October to have them again.

dole whip is a frozen dessert (not real ice cream) that comes in 3 flavors: chocolate, vanilla and pineapple.

the pineapple float is pineapple dole whip sitting in a glass of pineapple juice.

DD had the chocolate and vanilla swirl in a cup - encrusted with sprinkles. :sunny: I tried hers and it was nothing to write home about. it's not real ice cream and I can tell. The pineapple dole whip alone was pretty good, I think the different flavor helped it stand above the chocolate and vanilla. Adding the pineapple juice makes all the difference!! WOW!!!

They are not my favorite but my local ice cream place up here in New Hamspster has Dole Whips so I cna have them anytime I want or at leat from April to Oct.
