Are Dole Whips that good?

Yes they are that good :thumbsup2

I am a DW purist...plain pineapple with a pineapple spear.

I think DW's are one of those things that would not taste as good if you were not in WDW.

I think they're good enough that I recommend that everyone should try one once (assuming you like pineapple), but not good enough that I MUST have one everytime I'm there.

I like the floats. The juice is tart, but eating the whip with juice balances it out just like a rootbeer float. DW and DS don't really care for it at all, tho. Definitely not a must have during every trip for us. So far, we've tried the Tonga Toast, portobella soup at AP, and the Dole Whips/float because of DIS. I've enjoyed them all but they didn't knock my socks off. The only thing we've treated anything close to a "must have" is the seasoned fries at Flame Tree when we are at AK during lunch.

DD and I would agree that Dole Whips are a must have - I got her hooked this last time. And DS and DH were happy becuase they are root beer float people - so everyone was happy :grouphug:

I tried it for the first time this May......and I love it! I can't wait to go back and have another!

Ok I have tried to get Dole Whips twice and have been unsuccessful  . Once I was just in a hurry to get ice cream and didn't notice where I was and once my dad got me some sort of an frozen orange juice/vanilla ice cream thing. I am determined to get one this August. We are talking about the place behind the magic carpets right? Also can someone tell me what we had and is it the same thing only pineapple juice? What is the difference between a whip and a float? TIA

I don't like them either, which shocked me, because I LOVE pinneapple! I think the combination of the creamy, dairy ice cream with the acidic, citrusy pinneapple juice grossed me out a little. Ice cream swimming in juice? Ick, not for me. :crazy2: A lot of people seem to love them though!

ETA: I may be referring to a Dole float - didn't realize there was a difference!

I agree with you! Last Dec I tried one, thought, ohhhh! this is gonna be good. I could not finish it. I think it was too acidic for me, too.
At first, good, not so good as it went on.

I tried one for the first time on our trip in May. I thought that they were pretty good, but they were very acidic. Next time I will try pineapple juice with vanilla ice cream instead of pineapple ice cream. I think I will like that alot better.

they are awesome!

also try the strawberry swirl at the enchanted grove right by the teacups, in between fantasyland and tomorrowland - that is my dad's personal favorite!

A Dole Whip is the pineapple soft serve in a cup, and the Float is a Whip swimming in pineapple juice. :goodvibes

Are they that good ? No much better. :goodvibes Dole Floats. Can't leave without at least one and the primary reason we go back to the MK. Ok Ok I like the Pirates of The Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion as well. :teeth:

I've never tried one and tonight I dreamt that a show called 'Dole Whip Addiction' was on the Food Channel.

Are they THAT good?

After reading all the posts on this board about the Dole Whip, I made sure to make that one of my first stops in the MK. Boy, were they good! I love pineapple, but I did decide to get the vanilla/pineapple swirl. Not too much pineapple, but just the right amount. When we go back next time, you can be sure I will be getting one again! :sunny:

We absolutely love them! But we do prefer the vanilla/pineapple twist in the Dole Whip and the float because pineapple alone is a bit "bitey". :teeth:

YES! They really are that good. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that they are just really cold in a really hot place. :sunny:
I agree. They are great!

They are the best. I look forward to them all year. It's one of the traditions we have at the Magic Kingdom. We have to get one or our trip is not complete. I have tried to do my best to make them at home, but it will never be the same!!! Once you do try one, you will probably be hooked!!!

No. It's soft serve ice cream. And soft serve ice cream of ANY flavor isn't worth getting worked up about.
Now give me some good hand-made ice cream, and I turn 9-years-old again!

They are AMAZING!! I love the one with the fruit juice on the bottom! My mouth is drooling for some right now! :) It is the best soft serve!
