Are Disney Dollars available at the airport?

We'll be flying into MCO and then heading off for 2 weeks elsewhere in Florida before we reach Orlando, but I would love to be able to purchase Disney Dollars at the airport.

Does anyone know if these are available for purchase at the Disney Store in the airport? I would love to be able to get them there as I'm meeting up with family from the UK and I want to be able to give them these (35th anniversary gift!) before we get to WDW and since I'm from Canada we can't buy them here.

Thanks for any help you can give me.:)

I don't know one way or the other (helpful, aren't I? :) ), but if it were me, I'd try to get some before then just in case. The way my life works, even if I'd called ahead and confirmed that they "sell" them, they'd be out of stock on the day I arrived. Do you have any friends in the US who live near a DS? You could have them "buy" them for you and mail them, and then not have to worry about it.

Where in Canada are you located? I'm just across the border in the States (near Detroit), and we have a few nearby you can shop at. I have some you can buy, if you're interested. How much were you looking for?

Special thanks to you both for your replies.:D

MHopkins22 I don't know a soul in the US that could send them to me (and I would worry about customs, duty, taxes etc).

abeyst thank you so much for the offer but I'm looking for about $100.00 or so. We do live about 1 hour away from the USA border near Buffalo and I guess we could travel over for the day (if I can con my DH into going!)

I guess it would be advisable to call the DS first to make sure they have at least $100.00? Do you think they will be short of "dollars" at Downtown Disney, when and if I have to wait until then?

Any other ideas for a nice gift for my cousins? They invite us to share in their timeshare everytime they go to Florida and will not hear of us paying for our accomodations!:)

But I still like to get them something special and since it's their 35th wedding anniversary I wanted something a little extraordinary.:)

Thanks again for your ideas!

It shouldn't be a problem for the DS to have $100 in Disney dollars. It wouldn't hurt to call first, though, especially for an hour trip. I think Disneystore.com has a store locator and could probably give you the phone number. Another benefit-if you were interested in starting a pin trading lanyard for your trip to WDW they have pins for $.62 and $1.12!

As for gift ideas, it depends on what you want to spend. Are you looking for ideas at WDW? You can always treat them to dinner, have flowers or fruit/wine waiting in their room for them, even spa treatments (couples massage, etc). If you are staying at WDW, you can call guest services at the hotel you're staying at and they might have a few new ideas for you.

Thanks Amy for all your great ideas!

I'm still tossing ideas around, and yes I think calling the DS first would be an excellant idea just to make sure before we drive over the border.

My cousin already has a lanyard and has been a pin collector for a few years and I've been busy at our local DS buying pins to give to her when we meet.;)

We're staying offsite at Cypress Pointe (they are owners there) but I'm thinking of maybe flowers and wine too!:)

Thanks Amy!:)
