Are Discounts Offered for DCL?

Thank you! Working a deposit for our next into our budget just in case!
You can make a reservation for a specific future cruise while onboard for a 10% deposit. Or a "placeholder" booking (you don't have to select a specific cruise, as long as you take that cruise within 24 month of when you put the deposit down) for a $250 deposit per room.

Perfect - I have a feeling my family will want to take advantage of that option!

Yes, not sure? TA rates are the same as castmember rates.
Yeah, the same, but are probably not as common. We get last minute discounts on places that are hard to fly to last minute...like Europe, San Juan, Hawaii..... you get the picture. Oh and Galveston because for some reason nobody likes to cruise out of there.

Not always so.
I just got off of the Fantasy last Saturday and there were quite a few choices offered ..

I could have booked that cruise with a interline discount, but discounts on the Fantasy are rare lately. I meant they are probably more common for you than us. We cruised on the Wonder last month. We booked with GT rate, but the couple sitting next to us were TA's and got they got a TA rate.

Gotcha.
:)

Have you booked future cruise and received the 10% off? Do you have to pick a certain date/cruise?

You can select a specific cruise when you make an onboard booking, and the deposit on the room is 10% of the fare (usual deposit is 20%), plus you get a 10% discount on the cruise price, and onboard credit based on the length of the cruise.

OR

You can book a "placeholder". You put down $250 per room (2 rooms max) and you can designate a specific cruise later. However, the cruise must be taken with 24 months of the placeholder booking. Once you decide on which cruise, you will pay the difference (if any) between the $250 and the 10% deposit for that cruise. And get 10% off the cruise price and the OBC based on cruise length.

Onboard Bookings -- I thought the reduced deposit (10%) is only for cruises of 7+ nights? Deposit for shorter cruises (less than 7 nights) is the regular 20%.

Enjoy your cruise!

And, other than what is mentioned above you can get discounts in the form of TA onboard credit, or book through Costco (or transfer within a short period of time) to get Costco card after cruise is completed (approx 8% of fare, I think). Target red card purchase of Disney gift card to pay for cruise (5% discount I hear). Disney vacation account for 2% in form of Disney gift card. Credit card rewards, where applicable.

Who has experience with transferring to Costco? I'd like to book on opening day tomorrow but would like to book via DCL and then transfer to Costco to get the cash card afterwards. Would this work? What's the process? TIA!!! :)

I'm also curious about transferring to Costco...Does DCL still allow this? Thanks for any input!

You can transfer to Costco (or any other TA) within 30 days of making the reservation. After that point, it cannot be transferred. Some TA's will offer reduced OBC for a transferred reservation, though I believe Costco offers the same regardless.

Enjoy your cruise!

Yes. We booked a placeholder onboard in March and noted that it would be transferred to Costco. Today we transferred it and booked for August 17 through Costco. We will get a $405 Costco Gift Card for each stateroom after the cruise. A few weeks after the cruise in March we got our Costco gift cards in the mail (about $360/stateroom). We wanted to apply them to the deposit on this cruise, but they won't accept them for travel purchases. :( But those gift cards will come in handy for new set of tires for my car. :car:

Newbie question here. What's not included on a Disney cruise that one would use OBC for? I know alcoholic beverages, gratuities, spa treatments, & specialty restaurants are typically not included. What else?

LAX

Excursions in ports are not included. We used our OBC to cover the cost of photos from Shutters, the kids club magic band (DS kept it to unlock items on Disney Infinity at home) and of course shopping on the ship. I think, but not sure, that you can also use it to pay the deposit for your next OBB, and the popcorn and candy at the theaters is not included either. Not sure what I've forgotten. . . .

Check with your company if it has a discount partnership. Some do have DCL on their discounts. Some companies even push it as a big "benefit". Usually is only offered by companies that have close relations with Disney or DCL.
