all of the time. About every 2 years we get called to jury duty again. :confused3 It wouldn't be so bad in our city but we have
to go to Detroit which is around 25 mi.away. DH just got his
again and I went last year.

Feel like we are the only ones holding up the court system. :furious:

Wow! That IS a lot. I know here, you only need to serve every 4 years. If you are summoned again, we just have to call and let them know.

I did my civic duty Jan of 2005.

We can get called once a year and it seems like that is what is happening.

My ds and dh got them for a county we don't live in. Heck, my ds lives in NYS!!! My other ds just got one for the correct county. Poor kid was like, why do I get the one for the right county??

I seem to get summoned a lot. My luck is holding even after moving to FL. It's about 40 miles away for me to get there.

I never got called for jury duty till I was 40 years old, and now I get a summons every 6 months. Thankfully, if you go and don't get picked, that covers you for three years here, so I just keep sending them the copy of the thing that says "Jury Duty Obligation Fulfilled". :teeth:

I have NEVER been called to Jury duty . . . :duck: I would LOVE to serve, but I've never even been called. I've been a registered voter for almost 20 years, and never once have been called. Its kind of a bummer!!!

Last month I said to someone -"last year was the first year in two decades that I did not get called for jury duty" . I got home and my summons for April 11th was in the mail. :rotfl2:

No, but I wish they would call me. I'd love to serve and to see how they plan on getting me there.

 Would you like my next one?

I get called every 2 years. What really makes me mad is that dh never gets called and no one that I work with gets called either. :confused3

I have been registered to vote for 18 years, and held a DL for 20. I have NEVER been called...and I would LOVE to be on a jury. My brother, Mr. Hot-Shot Corporate Attorney gets called all the time (and dismissed, for being a lawyer).

Life just is not fair.

p.s. I have a friend who gets out of it by telling them she really wants to vote "guilty." Bad American!

Ughh... I KNOW what you mean about getting a jury summons to go to Detroit.. *shudders just thinking about it*

I feel like I need a body guard with me to go from the ramshackle parking lot by the Frank Murphey Hall of Justice to into the courthouse itself. What I don't get is that why don't they send ppl like us who live so FAR a way from Detroit to the court in Romulus ? Makes me want to move to Washtenaw county even more..

I recently got a Jury Summons in the mail, I am supposed to go towards the end of the month. I was shocked that I got one saying that I am so young and all.

I feel like it's a waste of time, they probably won't even pick me based solely on my age.

In our state, KY, when you are summoned you have to serve for 3 months. I was called last year. The only day I knew I could make plans was on Monday...Tues-Fri I had to leave open and have back up child care in case I was called in that day.

Lucky I think I am not 'free' for 5 years.

I haven't been called in over 15 years, even though I vote regularly...I think I have a black mark next to my name because the last time they called me I ended up being late, 2 days in a row. Honestly, it's not that I am totally irresponsible. I swear. The first day, I could not find the correct building, so I was 15 minutes late...the second day, there was an ice storm and the trolley line was running an hour behind schedule. I was again, about 15 minutes late.

This was during selection and they never even got near my number before they had a jury seated anyways.

The same mean, sour faced dowager noted me as being late each morning, she was not a happy camper and just gave me that look of total disapproval and disgust as she explained the importance of promptness in her ever-so-condescending tone while I signed in. Oh, the shame.

So, I think I might be shunned from the herd of my peers....

Man, if I get called again, I am going to have to camp outside the courthouse the night before so that I don't take the risk of being late again...or they will cart my butt off to jail where all of the naughty girls belong.

I have never been called and I would like to be! I would really love to experience it! I've moved around an awful lot. Do you think that is why?

My dh just did jury duty. Its every 4 years here in NY so I should get the notice before the end of the year. I am always like six months behind him. We are lucky and always get off the case. This time he told them that if he could not see any medical or physical evidence of the ladies pain from a supposed botched surgery then he was going to not give her anything because his wife, aka me, suffers in pain every day due to all my sphysical problems and no one gives me anything. Gee, thanks dh, good way to get out of the case. I had one where the lady had a car accident but had amnesia about the whole thing, gheesh. They didnt pick me either, we all got dismissed on a technicality that a lawyer divulged information to us that was only to be used in the trial or something like that. Here, its seems all the old people want to get on the juries because they are bored and some of them actually make it a business of making money etc.

I got called for the first time, and I have to report on May 3rd. It's pretty convenient for me because the court is only about 2 miles away, and I don't have to report until 9:00 - I usually have to be to work by 8:00. I am really excited and I am looking forward to serving, but I will probably be dismissed because I am a lawyer.

I've been called twice, but have not served. The first time I was called my apartment was on the city line dividing two counties, and I was able to successfully argue that they called me for the wrong county (not that I did not want to serve, but they called me for a courthouse that was miles away, off public transportation, and I did not have a car).

The second time, I forgot to send in my return card saying I was available. They sent me a reminder, which I promptly returned saying I would serve, but by that time they had already reached their juror quota.

DH was called for the first time recently, and has to report May 2. He's really hoping that they don't pick him as it will be hard for him to miss work. He's hoping they'll pass him over because of his profession.
