We have a half of a connecting room reserved for our upcoming cruise( Deck 6 verandah) and I was wondering if these rooms because of the shared door are just noisier as a norm? The room has a great mid ship location so I hate to move but don't want to hear every move of our neighbors either. What do you all think? Thanks a lot!!

In our experience, an adjoining stateroom has been noisier....it all depends on who your neighbors are though...

Honestly, YES, if your neigbors are noisy you will hear them more with a connecting room.

I would take a different room if one is available.

We were in one of the connecting secret porthole rooms, and we had "kickboxing" kids next door who loved to slam each other into the wall and door. We could pretty much hear everything they were saying. Maybe we wouldn't have noticed it as much if we had kids, too. It was just hubby and I, and we don't create much noise ourselves. I think if you had your own kickboxers, it would cancel some of that out.

Thanks everyone for your advice.I think since it's just myself and DH we are going to switch rooms.I think we may be better off without that extra door!

How does one know if their cabin is a connecting room or not. Are you told that when you book your cabin or do you have to ask it yourself. I am in cabin 7548. Does anyone know if that is a connecting room or not?

7548 is not a connector. :) If you go to the DCL website you can look at deck plans, and connecting rooms are indicated by triangles pointing towards each other. There aren't that many connecting rooms.

Thanks for the good news!

I didn't find it noisy. My children were next door, and I KNOW they are loud. When the doors were closed, I didn't hear anything through that door/wall. I also didn't hear my neighbors on the other side. I did hear crew in the hallways though...there was a metal crew only door across from my room that made some noise. Nothing bothersome or constant though though, and I am super sensitive to sounds. If I even hear a clock ticking, I'll pull out the batteries.:D
