Are character meals a good use of DDP?

We had decided to not use the DDP on this trip since our children (ages 14 & 10) do not eat like adults but would be charged as adults on the DDP. We have since added a couple of nights to our trip under a different reservation so we could try the DDP for the added nights without having to use it for the whole trip. My question is whether character meals are a good use of the DDP TS credits? My thought was that maybe since our children would be charged adult prices for the buffet anyway, we might come out ahead for those 2 days using the plan.

Any opinions you have would be welcomed.:)

Character meals are a great use of DDP. The cost of the character meals (including taxes and tip) is the better part of one days cost of the DDP. This means your CS meal and snack are almost free !!

This is exactly what we are considering for the first four day part of our reservation. We have two kids, plus one over 10 so will be charged as an adult. But we're thinking that if we use our credits towards Hoop-Dee-Doo, Ohana's and maybe a character meal, we'll actually make out better than if we paid oop for those meals. I think we seem to be ahead when it's a set price per person, but I don't think it's as good for us to use at a regular table service place because my 11yo would probably still order something off the kids meal. Am I thinking this out correctly?

That is what we are thinking, also. For us, a character meal would cost $27.99 per person, plus tax and tip. For less than $11 more per person, we could get the character meal plus a CS and snack. My kids are like yours and would most likely order off the kids menu anyway, or atleast order something simple off the adult menu and would have no interest in an appetizer and probably would not order dessert (or maybe share a dessert).

Anyway, thanks for all the info. I think we will try it for our first 2 nights, then go back to paying OOP. By the way, when I called to add the DDP to our reservation I found out that the credits are good from the moment we check in until midnight the day we check out...so it really gives us 3 full days to use 2 days of credits which allows for a little more flexibility.

Also, character meals are *usually* either buffet or fam style, allowing the kiddos to try a little of something different (God forbid they'll like it);)

I think the one TS character meals are a great use of DDP.

I don't think CRT is a good use of two TS credits. Haven't been to HDD, so I can't offer an opinion on whether that's worth two or not.
