Are Character Dining Vouchers a Good Deal?

My family and I have made reservations to have dinner at Goofy's Kitchen and the Charater Breakfast at PCH Grill during our next trip. I see that on Get Away Today they are offering discounted vouchers. For premium dining it is $46 for adult and $28 for child and for regular character dining it is $36 for adult and $22 for child. This includes tax and gratuity. Because the prices aren't specific on Disney's website (not sure which is the dinner price and which is breakfast price) I am not sure how good of a deal it is.

The usual opinion is no in regards to the all day vouchers, the Disneyland Resort has a lot more options in Downtown Disney and nearby locations of-property that don't take the vouchers. Also the way the vouchers are designed, many folks say you need to buy more food than you want to eat to get the maximum value.

So for the lack of options and over-valued vouchers, I would say no.

But for a stand alone Character Meal, I would go for it, but also take into consideration if you are eligible for a discount from another program.

These vouchers are for character meals only.
If I do not go with the voucher, it gratuity automatically added to the bill?

Disney discontinued the meal plan vouchers several years ago. Some packages, like Costco include a character meal voucher, and some other travel sites, like Ares and Getaway Today sell them a la carte.

Call the dine line and ask them the specific price of the meal including tax. Keep in mind that if a server brings you a drink gratuity is expected. The only character meal where you get your own drink is Minnie's. Even there they do come and clear your table regularly. We've never thought the vouchers were good for us, but we had APs the two times we went and found the AP discount to be slightly better than the voucher discount.

I called and PCH Grill for breakfast is $35 per adult and $21 per child. Gratuity is 15% and tax is 8%. Goofy's Kitchen for dinner is $39 for adult and $23 for child. Gratuity is 18% and tax is 8%.
