Are Boma & O'Hana's similar? Would you do both same week?

I know one is sitdown all you can eat and the other a buffet. Are there similarities in the food? Meat, etc?

The food is not similar. Ohana meat is all grilled. Boma has stews, roasted meat, etc, plus lots of very different dishes.

I could do both on the same trip, just probably not on consecutive days, since the potential to eat a lot of food exists at both.

They are excellent choices, as far as all you care to eat goes. We did Ohana a couple of months back and I like the changes. Boma has something for almost everyone. It's been over a year since we've been there but people still seem to report favorably on it.

If you can only do one .. go with Ohana's... this has become one of my favorite meals and cannot wait to go back for dinner there alone!!!

Boma is a wonderful buffet with lots of unusual and tasty African-inspired choices (and the best prime rib at WDW). Here's the menu: http://allearsnet.com/menu/menu_bomadin.htm

'Ohana (apostrphe first, no S at the end) means family, and family means nobody goes away hungry. 'Ohana is my favorite restaurant at WDW; from the appetizers to the grilled meats to the incredible, mind-blowing dessert, 'Ohana will stretch your waistband while making you feel relaxed and peaceful with it's laid-back Polynesian atmosphere and beautiful view of MK through the giant windows. Here's the menu: http://allearsnet.com/menu/menu_oh.htm

Believe me, BOTH places are worth the time and money to experience.

They are very different from one another. The food is quite different too. BOMA has a decent variety, lots of soups and prime rib. Its a buffett so you server yourself. Its also more on the quieter side. Ohana is great. Food is on skewers and brought to your table. Plus there is entertainment of games and contests going on during the meal. I would definately do both in the same week.

I'd go with Boma. I used to love 'Ohana but I was very very disappointed with the menu changes. I can get cheesy potatoes, steak and bland sausage anywhere. The veggies were hard and the cold, greasy wonton chips were NOTHING like the fabulously crispy shrimp and vegetable filled wontons they once offered. The salad and coriander chicken wings were still good and the new shrimp were just as good as the old ones, though a different recipe. The only true improvement over the old 'Ohana was the dessert- it is truly amazing- a bananas foster bread pudding with a caramel sauce that it to die for.

Boma, on the other hand, offers so many choices, that if you find something lackluster, you have lots of other options. In addition, if you are traveling with a vegetarian, picky eater or someone with dietary restrictions, I have found Boma to be super accomodating. (I have seen huge towers of vegetarian entrees and have also seen Asian guests dining on freshly steamed fish and bowls of rice for breakfast) At dinner, the soups were fabulous especially the chicken corn one, there were lots of salads, including one made with watermelon rind that was surprisingly good. The seafood and meats were fabulous- and I ate a ton of couscous- both the salad and the hot one. Desserts are yummy, though I have to admit 'Ohana's dessert has it all over them. However, Boma's zebra domes are yummy, the Simba Paws are adorable and they have tons of fresh fruit.

Just my $0.02 :hippie:

Both are different. I liked Boma better, but the rest of our group was partial to 'Ohana. I would so both if it is possible.
